The owners should have let them be indoor outdoor raccoons, technically not pets but fed by them. It’s not illegal to keep a pet raccoon if technically it’s free to leave, spends part of its time in nature. That would have been more responsible than raising it and then dumping it.

I worked in a vet clinic when I was a teenager and all those bugs know the instant the host dies. We got in a very sick dog that had been bitten by a big dog on its back weeks before and the owners did nothing. The wound was gangrenous, full of pus and there were maggots literally making tunnels through its body. The kindest thing was to put him to sleep. The tech told me we had to do it outside and I wasn’t sure why until the very second that drug hit his sad little heart those maggots bailed. Thousands of them just crawling out of him so fast, I barely had time to move my feet away. It was like a horror movie. I think it was the only time I was relieved to help put a dog down because he was in so much pain. RIP to that lovely old neglected boy. He deserved much better.

That is seriously appalling, especially considering the wonderful way people in the UK typically treat animals! I remember a few years ago, CCTV caught someone abandoning a white pit bull, and two days later he was on national TV with the headline "Outrage Over Dumped Dog". They received thousands of offers to rehome him, almost instantly. If they ever catch the freak who committed this latest atrocity? I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Someone may just "happen" to catch them out on a dark night and teach them the proper way things are done over there. ;)

I hope and think the urban rescue ranch guy will keep his distance and the raccoon will wake up and become wild but we’ll see🙏 he’s gotta get more wild to be around other raccoons. As the ranch becomes more of a rehab center we surely won't get as many uploads but I'm fine with that. You're living your best life and giving those animals the attention they need. Less uploads just means your doing a great job with the animals. Videos really should come second.
