    @@davidchurchill1651 There was a mandate for earlier models (1990,) but it wasn't as strict. Ford went with air bags for the driver, General Motors did not, but they used stupid belts attached to the doors instead which could cause a person to be ejected in a collision.

    I was 11 years old at the time this episode aired on March 1993. It was that story that led me to not drink beer or alcohol at all for a long time. It wasn't until I turned 30 that I began to drink some beer. Even today, I only drink one beer a week, mainly on Saturday nights. And it all traces back to the ramifications Brandon and his family had to go through because Brandon felt he was invincible on that March 1987 night (only to find out otherwise). Alcohol and keys do not mix.

    Hardest part is having to tell the parents as his friend did. No one wants to tell or be given that news. The parents that allowed the party with teens drinking should be given jail terms for that. His friend has a nice 1975 or 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible (a '75 is rarer)

    I had to watch this in Health Class and in Drivers Ed. DUI is dangerous, it cost lives, and it is stupid. Four beers was enough to paralyze Brandon I hope all of you learn from his lesson before you go partying. If you are going to drink you stay put sleep in a backroom or call a cab or take the bus. Don't touch that can, don't get behind the wheel, and DON'T DUI! it cost lives.

    True story, some people are just really lucky my truck looks worse and I wasn't wearing a seat belt and I was in an old ford with no airbags so I knocked out a windshield with my head, lost some hair, shoved the gear shifter into the dash so hard it put a huge v in it. But I walked right out covered in blood like nothing happened. Did the exact same thing except it was 2 trees.

    Didn’t he still have to go to prison or pay a hefty fine? Just because you are injured shouldn’t mean you are off the hook…..I mean eventually when he got out of rehab he should have been penalized. Everyone calls him a hero, but he committed a very serious crime.

    He's very lucky he didn't kill or seriously injure someone else. This can barely be called an accident since he made the choice to drink and drive. Since he's forever brain damaged some would say he's already been punished for life.

    The law does take into consideration of his injury despite the actual crime. Its fair to say his permanent injury is punishment enough, more punishment than what prison would offer. Now if he killed or injured someone else, some form of prison time would be a given.

    For every drink you have, you must wait an hour before driving!!! You can't even sit in the car, if its parked and you never planned to drive it at all, what a "fucking rip off"!!! It's not like you can actually hurt someone at all.

  • @vinaymulukutla358

    @vinaymulukutla358

    We have that law over here too. If you're over the legal alcohol limit and you sit in a parked car behind the wheel, you can get done for drunk driving. And I don't think waiting one hour is enough, alcohol can persist in your system for several hours even if you feel fine.
