Requirements to Enter Costa Rica Explained - Avoid these mistakes!! - Sarah Elena
I made this video because I have been getting a lot of questions about the entry requirements for Costa Rica, and I have seen a fair amount of confusion as well!
So my hope is that this information will help clear things up for those who will be entering Costa Rica and would like to know what is necessary.
PLEASE NOTE, this video was made on January 26th, 2021. If you have stumbled upon this at a later date, then I suggest you double check for any updates on these requirements. Should there be any updates, I will be posting them on the channel as well for you.
These are the things you need to enter into Costa Rica as of January 26th, 2021.
#1. COVID INSURANCE OPTIONS
Covid insurance is required for entry into Costa Rica. Here are some options you can look into for insurance that will satisfy entry into Costa Rica.
Some mistakes I am seeing being made via the insurance are:
1. Not knowing the requirements (must cover Covid, $2,000 USD for Lodging, and $50,000 for medical)
2. Getting the wrong type of insurance
3. Not getting insurance for the full duration of the trip
Where to get cover insurance?
- Contact Our Insurance Broker Danilo Villalobos for INS quotes and others at: dvillalobos@segurosprismacr.com
- Covid Insurance for coming from the USA: www.trawickinternational.com/
- Covid Insurance for coming from Canada:Blue CrossAllianz Canada Tugo
#2. FLIGHT LEAVING Costa Rica
Costa Rica MUST see a return ticket flight leaving Costa Rica. And you must leave before your 90 day visa is up!
This website can be used if you are not sure when you will leave yet within the 90 days, or if you will be filing for your residency upon your arrival. But remember, if you will remain on your tourist visa and WILL NOT be filing for residency, you DO still need to leave before your 90 day visa is up!!
Onwardticket.com
Some mistakes I am seeing being made for return ticket:
1. Thinking one is not necessary
2. Getting a ticket to show exit but then thinking they do not still need to leave
3. Thinking land border runs are still possible at this time
#3. THE HEALTH PASS
This is to be filled out within 48 hours of your departure to arrive in Costa Rica. Once finished, you will receive a QR code which will be scanned for entry. You must upload your insurance policy into this online form as well, so make sure to have that handy!
salud.go.cr/
I hope this was helpful and I will continue to post updates should any requirements ever change for Costa Rica!
Pura vida!
If you ARE moving to Costa Rica and you could benefit from expert assistance through ought the entire process, please feel free to go to my website and fill out an application for a free phone call!

@@solised Yes all travelers returning to the United States from Costa Rica are now required to present a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding the plane back to the United States. I would advise doing your own research but there are apparently quite a few testing clinics in San Jose area and also at least one in most major tourist areas. I’ve heard the price ranges from about $100-$175 depending on location. Personally I doubt the travel insurance would cover that, but I’m not entirely sure.

Also for travelers returning to the US be mindful of the Covid testing required for your return flight. your negative covid test has to be within 72 hrs of your return flight and outside of San Jose we are being quoted times of 24-72 hrs for results so there is a bit of potential for an issue there. we have a return flight on march 1st very early and things are looking to be potentially close for us as our return flight is out of Liberia.

  • @SarahElenaDesignsLife

@@SarahElenaDesignsLife ya there seems to at least be good availability and really, we are proceeding as planned with our trip as we would have to get pretty unlucky and have the results come back at the last second in that window for it to sink our return flight. another thing for people to note is that the test can add up, its about $120 USD per person so if on a budget that may be good to known. there is a concierge service via the liberian airport (listed on their site) that will handle the details and appointments for you for an additional $20 USD as well if anyone wants to go that route.

I think you will find more to do in Playa Manuel Antonio in terms of activities. Conchal is much quieter. But the surrounding areas of Conchal like Tamarindo and other towns have plenty going on! It'll depend what airport you decide too. If you want to fly into San Jose, then Playa Manuel Antonio will be easiest. But if you go to Liberia international airport then Conchal and the other towns would be best.

Hello I'm trying to understand something, I leave for Costa Rica in a few weeks. But I'm only going there for a few days for my birthday. So when I went on the website to get a quote to see how much the insurance supposed to be, it tells me it's only $6.50 and that does not cover the cost of Costa Rica $2,000 requirement I don't understand what I'm supposed to do if I am not staying longer than 6 days. 4th-9th of March 2021

Costa Rica is NOT requiring a Covid Test for entry anymore. However.... if you are going back to Canada or the USA, then you will need to obtain one to enter those countries for going back home. There are many places you can get covid tests here. Here is a link to show some in all of the different areas of the country. www.twoweeksincostarica.com/covid-19-test-costa-rica/

Hi Lisa! You actually will need to be IN Costa Rica to file for residency. However, you can gather your paperwork to bring with you to file upon your arrival IF you really want to file for residency. If you are still unsure about filing, then I would recommend holding off. Come down for the 90 days, plan to exit and re-enter and then make a decision when you feel ready. Hi Tim! You will need to fill out the health pass again, but just go ahead and upload the same insurance policy because it still covers you for the time that you are re-entering. That is actually not true. If you'd like to know the different types of ways you can get residency, I have a video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZydvMyIkpeYfco.html It is not as easy as just entering and applying. There are investment requirements, income requirements, or family tie requirements. Residency is a process that is really best done with a lawyer to help navigate the process smoothly.
