Stunning performance!!!!! This is my favorite Requiem and I finally get to sing it again this fall with the YAVAPAI COLLEGE MASTER CHORALE CHORALE IN Prescott AZ. I am a retired “Pop” singer from the 70s . My husband and I performed as Captain and Tennille. Our first #1 hit record was Love Will Keep Us Together in 1975. He and I were both classically trained although his favorite music was boogie and mine was jazz. When we semi retired and moved to Prescott AZ, I joined the Yavapai College Master Chorale and decided to Decided to study classical voice to see how far I could take my voice to contribute to the classical style of the chorale. Thanka to a great bocal teacher, I expanded my range up to a G and am now a certified mezzo! I post under my dog’s name. Just wanted you and your entire chorale ensemble and fine orchestra how moved I was by their superb performance!!!
I’m included in this performance!! This was such a wonderful experience.

What an incredible honor and experience! I sang this incredible choral work in 2004 with a newly formed choral society then and the only word that can describe it was wow ❤❤❤❤❤
I had the joy of singing this at Carnigie with John Rutter conducting.

I had that same experience in 1990 or 1991 (the exact date escapes me). I wonder if we were on the stage together. I was a member of the group from Marvin United Methodist Church from Tyler, Texas.

You have to wonder. It's more than notes on a scale. And, there are only a few composers that truly embrace, our heart and soul. I have a theory...these men and women are Angels on loan; God's way of letting us know, we are His beloved children and each note is a tap on our shoulder, with God saying, Be Loving And Good To One Another.

Tears in my eyes due to the beauty of composition and performance. But the love driving the composition is awesome.
At Epiphany of The Lord parish in Toledo, Ohio we are preparing to sing this beautiful work as our final performance in our Sacred Heart Church. Our beautiful church will soon be closing, and we wish to leave a fond memory of gratitude to all those who came before us.
Agree with you - we must appreciate thergeat composition by English composer Rutter, who is still alive and deserves more accolade - his Christmas carols are popular & performed all over the world. I sang in the tenors of my chi choir this particular requiem in our local church in one Easter . The memory is with me in my life and has helped me in dealing with challenges in life including a recent major operation in hospital. The music is soothing as it makes connection with the divine for hope, forgiveness & healing.
Oh my gosh, the soprano soloist is absolutely stunning! Just an incredible performance.

Humanity at its finest, in every sense. Every time I hear it I mourn my parents and son anew.
[Dare I to say] that this is better than the Cambridge Singers! If only I could have sat in this concert and heard it directly with my own two ears! How did I not find this earlier??? Dr. Cook, thank you! Everyone who is brave enough to practice and sing in these concerts, THANK YOU!

12:42 The absolute highlight of a wonderful performance by the choir, orchestra and conductor. This young lady has an exquisite voice, which undoubtedly trained, still sounds perfectly natural and unadulterated.
This piece of music got me through a night of sickness and anxiety. Thank you so much for making it available on KZread. God works in mysterious ways.

Second that.
Don Donaldson's Heartland Singers performed this at Carnegie Hall on Thanksgiving Sunday November of 2001. What was also memorable was the fact that the World Trade Center attacks happened 2 months previous to our performance. On addition, Mr Rutter's son had passed away shortly before our performance. To say we were emotional..would be a huge understatement.
This is the best version I have ever heard. And the soprano...wow.

All the participants deserved to have the place filled to capacity. It’s a shame more didn’t get to experience it in person as it truly was magnificently performed. Thank you to all involved!

A jewel by and in itself - no need of other jewels. Rutter always leaves us with a deep feeling of hope over and above regret, dispair, pain or even suffering. And that is a touch of Inspiration with capital "I". Moreover whem death, separation, grief and farewell are the reasons to sing, to assemble with the choir, to tune with the orchestra. God bless those holding such natural human gifts.

De mooiste requiem die er ooit gemaakt is🥰 zelf ook een paar keer gezongen in een koor. Echt een hemels stuk🙏🏼
this substantial choir gives a sensitive rendition of this piece.
Requiem 1:10, Out of the Deep 6:59, Pie Jesu 12:43, Sanctus 16:49, Agnus Dei 19:05.
Pie Jesu ... of sublime, profound, and celestial beauty.

It always makes me weep! When I sang it several years ago I had goose bumps and tears simultaneously.😢
This in my humble opinion is the mother of all Requiems of the 20th Century. I love the melodies and harmony. Psalm 130 Out of the Deep is exquisite with its blue notes, and use of the solo Cello. Pie Jesu is equally so moving, it bring me to tears with the Boy Treble. Perfection! I am writing my own requiem, and wonder if I can now after hearing this masterpiece.
Absolutely beautiful. I have used this to rehearse with between choir practices. BOTH sopranos sang wonderfully.
my choir is singing this piece for our concert this thursday, it’s such an amazing piece to sing. my favorite movement from the piece as a whole is probably movement 5, which is “Agnus Dei.” it’s just such a powerful piece as a whole, i really enjoy it.
Wonderful performance. Our choir did this piece last year. A grand experience.

Rutter is a genius of melody with deep heart--all his work hits the emotions in the center where the divine sits inside of us where we often do not know--but the music brings it to the surface in all its beauty!

@@ParisblueCos I didn't notice they missed it until I finally listened to the Cambridge Singers under J. Rutter perform it. I think the mistake almost makes sense - just a little bit of practicing and I think it would sound better even than the way Mr. Rutter wrote it originally (please, I mean no disrespect and I understand that my ears prefer certain sounds so I don't know how others would feel about it.)

So beautiful.
Commendable performance all around. I have a feeling that those in the room - rather than just listening to the recording - heard a slightly better balance between orchestra and chorus. Still, all were disciplined and praiseworthy.
