I have the same drill press, also a write off, God himself couldn't seperate these bases, mine is now cut down and has a cheap drill press table attached to the top of the pillar for clamping and grinding etc, the original table has a wilton cadet vise attached to it along with a full set of files and two angle grinder holders then there's a log with an attached anvil bolted through the foot. I call it the non- co-operation and attitude adjustment station. Regards from Perth W.A.

Yea the rust holding on to the column was a beast! Haha I definitely need the same station in the the garage! Cheers David

How (if you did) clean the rust out from the inner surface of the pillar?

I didn't bother, Actually plugged the bottom and filled it with scrap metal sand to bring up the mass.
