    What a great video...I have these same plants...they are beautiful but they can get very top heavy when the canes get really long, so its good to trim them down like you do...I just repotted mine with new fresh soil after a long time, they were not looking too good but after repotting and pruning they will come back...also I have lots of leaves to make new plants with now...the flowers are incredible as you know...cannot wait to have blooms again. And Yes...they are sensitive to cold...I bring mine in any time it is going to be really cold or freeze until it gets better outside again....Thank you for showing how this is done for others : )

    Hi, thanks for the great video! I'm just starting out with mine, a friend gave me a biggish one. Can the stems be planted as cuttings, or only the leaves? When you trim the stem, does it leave an open tube like a drinking straw? Do we need to fill that with something to keep the plant safe? Thank you so much, I'm going to look at your other videos now.

    I just acquired a huge one. Not sure if it is a Q of the N or an Orchid Cactus. It has loooong stems with a leaf at the end. Some leaves have pups. Should I cut them all and start over? Do I just put the leaves in dirt to propagate?

  • @jerrywhidby.

    @@sarahkanieski8293 those are different names for the same plant. You can take the pieces and put them in a few inches of distilled water. They rarely fail to root. And they transition from water to soil easily. They're queens but not drama queens. I have three large and one small basket started just from two small pieces. And you can prune away any undesirable leaves, and the plant will make more. My plant got attacked by caterpillars, and I cut off the damaged sections. It grew back looking fuller and nicer than it did before. As far as fertilizer goes, I water all of my plants every week with 1/8 of the recommended dosage of Miracle Grow plant food. This has prevented burning, and allows the plants to get a little food every week. A KZreadr was told by a nursery employee that that is what they do to keep their plants looking good. It has worked very well for me for years.

    It loves South facing window and it loves water and for fertilizer I use chempak no. 8 half the strength but any high potassium will do, If you do endup getting no. 8 I will send you the proper measurements for succulents. feed it every other watering march with through the end July. It should produce buds by that time. It can form buds in May and June depending on the lighting and heat.. Do you have Instagram?

    I'm getting a cutting for a queen of the night tomorrow from a friend and I'm gonna plant it this weekend. I'm wondering what a good pot size could be. And how often should you repot it? And how do you know if it needs repotting? And do you just keep on cutting the stems to make it branch out and make the plant become "wider" so to say? Thanks for a great video. I really love this plant and have always wanted one for my self. But they are quite rare in Sweden.

    5 inch pot is good! You can leave it in there for 3 to 4 years. You will know when its right time to move it to the next size up. The plant will slow down on growth and thats a good sign to repot. And for getting the plant wider it does it on its own. You just trim stems so you can Shap it and produce more stems at the bottom so it looks more compact less gaps. If you do any triming just wait after the third year so you can see how the growth starts to shape. Maybe you will like the look. Hopefully this helps 👍 and thank you for visiting i will do an update soon on the plant 🌿

    @treasuresofplantz9203

    Hi, the brown spots it hard to tell with out a picture, but you mentioned that the brown spots are dry. Thats okay and common for epiphyllum to have them, if you take them outside for spring and summer. If your plant is a cutting, wait tell your plant starts grow Before you do any triming. Epiphyllums stems sometimes can look a bit woody from random place.. Hopefully this helps! I will be doing other epiphyllum videos soon hopefully you visit my channel again 👍

    Can i ask what type of soil its in? (No sand or heavy compost) I recommend humus add small amount of charcoal at the bottom of the pot mix with humus compost. Fertilizer back to back 2 or 3. Make sure its dry in between fertilizer. And let it soak in it for 30 minutes Im doing a update on the video with more exact details. So come back and visit me. 👍 Hopefully i was helpful.
