Repotting a seed grown Royal Poinciana Bonsai | Growing Royal Poinciana From Seed Part 4
Just under 2.5 years ago I shared a video on how to germinate Royal Poinciana seeds. In this video I give another update on the seedlings, and repot one of my largest ones into a Bonsai training pot.
Here's a link to the first video where I show you how to germinate the seeds: • Growing Flame Trees fr...

We had three of these delivered- trying to figure out where to place them on the ranch. They are beautiful though- unexpected- but absolutely lovely. Thanks for the video

Thank you so much 😀
Great ! Saw all your videos on this particular tree from seedlings . Wonderful work … getting ready to repot a two year seedling myself but I only have the one so I’m a bit nervous. Ill clean up the root a bit and trim down the height of the tree but thats it its going into regular good organic soil for now just going to repot and let it grow over the summer … wish me luck !

Do U have to prune Poinciana tree
I have just gotten into bonsai, and I am growing one of these very trees. We live in the USA, and we went on vacation to Florida, and I saw one of these trees and I was just awe-struck by the blooms. From a distance, it looked like the tree was on fire. Thank you for posting this video, I have subscribed, so I will anxious, and curious to see updates on this tree.

Hey thanks for following 😊 hope it grows well!
I would girdle that right below where you want roots to grow. If you use bonsai wire to tie off above that bad root it will slowly zap that root and the tree should make a flatter root plane above the gridle. Don't make the girdle super tight though you want it just contacting the skin of the tree. That gives the tree the ability to adapt to the girdle. Blue sky bonsai taught me that. Worked well for me with a lemon tree that sadly died because of a super hard frost a year later.

@@EuanElleryany idea why my leaves might suddenly turn yellow? It's about midway up the trunk and a couple of the tiny leaves on one leaf turned yellow in just a couple days. Everything else LOOKS fine - it's getting ready to throw out its third branch! If this is normal, I'll just let it drop. But if there's an *issue* I wanna fix it asap

@@keijennings447 hey mate, if everything else is seeming fine and it’s just a couple leaves I’d say it’s just normal. Especially if they’re low down and maybe shaded by other leaves? Either way if it’s just a couple you shouldn’t need to worry
Hi Euan, just watched your series and picked up a poinciana seed pod in Brisbane. Assuming mine actually germinate properly, what sort of sunlight did you provide your seedlings, and did you increase sun exposure as they grew?
@EuanEllery

Hey mate, they like full Sun so I’d be keeping it in as bright an area as you can 😊
Thank you for this informative video. Can you advise me where to buy the Bonsai plastic pot you have repotted the poinciana.Thank you

Hey Peter, I found these on eBay listed as bonsai training pots 😊 have struggled to find them locally
Can such tree have flowers in a pot? What soil are you using and what nutrients. What is your waterning schedule? I am also growing a few royal poincianas in pots but they do not have a trunk as thick as yours. What could be the reason? They have been grown from seeds since December 2022.

Hey, yeah they can flower once they’re old enough. This one was sitting on soul so grew some extra roots which could explain the thickness but I normally water every day or two. I just use a standard fertiliser and a fairly organic soil mix
Hi i planted this one in the ground in sept this year. Live in vegas n am a bit fearful that i may fail in growing this RP I try to water it daily. What are ur recommendations to cold protect it. When do i back off from watering daily. Vegas is coming into fall n winter. Should i deep water the plant in the winter. I know it will go dormant. Sorry for this long message. Any tips advise is helpful Tia 😊

Hi 😊 I definitely wouldn’t over water these (they like to dry out a bit) so I’d probably do a finger test to make sure the soil isn’t too damp before watering
I cannot get mine to branch out like that. What do I need to do?!?
@EuanEllery

What’re they doing, just growing a single trunk? Just pruning them back every so often for ramification works for me
How often do you water them?
@EuanEllery
Жыл бұрын
Normally every day or two depending on how dry they get, just don’t water them if the soils still moist 😊
