My mothers bed time stories of the Russians invading Latvia were horrific. My mother was 16 and was sent home from her school in the city where she took a boat up the coast to drop her off, but the boat kept going and escaped. She never saw her family again. They sent my grandmother and aunt and over 10,000 women to camps in Siberia where they stayed for 10 years. They commandeered my grandfathers farm but forced him to stay and work it. They ended his woodworking business. People who owned apartments in the city heard a knock on the door, and we're told to gather a small list of things that they were allowed to take. They were sent to very low income buildings, while Russians moved into their apartments and enjoyed the things the Latvians were forced to leave behind, including clothes. When I went to visit Latvia a few years ago(a beautiful gentle country) I went into a card shop in the mall but my cousin grabbed my arm and pulled me out. It was owned by Russians. I have a friend in New York who met an older man who said he was Russian...even though he was born in Latvia. You can believe Russia/Putin is coming for all those countries. Assisting Ukraine to defeat Russia is a no brainer.

A man walking his dog in a park told me he knew no one, emphasis, not one person, who didn’t have a family member, killed, imprisoned, sent to work camps, by the Soviets. A tour guide told me off line he wouldn’t even spit the word Russia-and Tallinn was full of Russians.

Back in the late 60's I had a wonderful math teacher that had been involved in similar events as you describe for your grandmother. His father was taken one night and never seen again again plus a bunch of other frightening things. He would take class time to try to enlighten us to how lucky we were to be free and how not to take it for granted. What was left of his family fled to Germany then to the US. He would cry and be wioing tears from his eyes as he would tell us about it. It was so impactful that even after all those years I still remember it. He was a good and caring man.

I've said it from the beginning this was Putin rebuilding the old Soviet Union. He's said it NUMEROUS TIMES in numerous speeches that was his dream. He was deeply embarrassed when the Soviet Union fell. He said so himself. Belaruse is already a Russian colony. It's just not formalized yet. That's why Russia was allowed access from Belaruse territory.

"someone is listening" -- do you mean one ought not to be listened to when one speaks? if you do not want to be listened to, do not speak. The only reason why Belorussia was kept as a separate republic within the USSR was to give Moscow another vote in the UN as Stalin had wangled three seats in the UN for himself, two other being for Minsk and Kiev, which was a charade then but did give two more votes. Hilarious too is how ignorant the correspondent is about the subject he speaks of saying "all hm former countries that were under Soviet influence" (4:16). He hasn't the faintest idea apparently about these "former countries", not even cognizant that they were not "under Soviet influence", but an integral part of the Soviet Union.

Belarus is also a very convenient drop off point for importing a hybrid army, ooops, I meant to say sweet, harmless migrants. So they could invade, oops again, I meant to sa, y enter to peacefully and request asylumn, in Lithuania and Poland, and to establish drug smuggling and human trafficking operations, oops, I meant Kabob reataurants and lonely heart clubs in those countries. In 2021, there was a large group which tried to get in, possibly because they had been promised a large vulnerable population of refugees in Poland and Lithuania who would be fleeing an attack from Russia. The attack from Russia came, but the "peaceful harmless" army of 95% men which tried to break through the Polish and Lithuanian borders had been stopped and were unable to greet the Ukrainin refugees. Bravo Poland and Lithuania!

He'll very easily take over Belarus. Lukashenko knows his position is precarious. His own military will remove him before they agree to invade Ukraine, but Putin's patience is running out. When Lukashenko refuses again to push his own army into Ukraine Putin will have him removed and replaced by a more compliant puppet. The Belarusian people seem to have little interest in ousting their own dictator, so unfortunately it won't be hard for Putin to just move in and take over. He'll decapitate the Belarusian military and force them to join Russia.
