    how long can you keep the sculpy in it till it hardens or is rendered useless? also is there space for an ingot? seems vital to include a spot in the case to keep it all together. if there was and the clay lasted a long time it'd be nice to preprep for when you never know if you'll need it

  • @adammorris8112

    @adammorris8112

    3 күн бұрын

    There is space in the case for 3 of the square blocks of woods metal. Sculpey keeps pretty much indefinitely in my experience as long as you don't bake it. So I would consider only using each fill once or twice, you will get some ideas if there are hard bits when you remove it from the shell. If there are, discard those at the very least. Given that you are also mixing your release agent in with the Sculpey you will not be able to reuse it indefinitely, but Sculpey isn't exactly expensive.

    No review option on the website but just got it and will put my review here: 7/10 Unboxing this was a wonderful experience as always with CI and was packaged neatly and arrived fast! The included spoon, retention band and roller are great quality and excellent to use. The outer case is great too BUT, the interior case in which you put the clay in and mold the key in seems to have been forgotten and lacks in the quality department with cheap tolerances creating a gap so wide that I can drop a COIN through it. I love CI’s tools and devices and it does still work but this let me down. As this is the main part it makes me rate this a 7/10 hope the quality resumes with the next product they make.

    My two cents on CI tools: Copycat designs: Seems like a good chunk of their stuff is just copies of existing picks (think handles, not the actual picking parts) with a CI logo slapped on and a higher price tag. You can find the same quality picks elsewhere for less. Hits and misses: Gotta give credit where it's due, some of their tools are fantastic. Their ergo turners are awesome! But some, like the covert companion, just aren't that great. Marketing over merit: My biggest concern is CI riding the coattails of popular KZreadrs like LPL and McNally to sell overpriced tools to beginners who don't know any better. This creates an unrealistic expectation of lock picking being easy, leading to disappointment when they struggle. Fake it 'til they make it: Here's a conspiracy theory I'm willing to bet on: those KZreadrs probably aren't using CI picks for real lock picking, especially for important stuff. They likely just use them in videos for the sponsorship. Bottom line: Feels like CI is leveraging their famous endorsers to push lower-quality picks on unsuspecting newbies. On another negative note: they got my shipping label incorrect and I never received one of my orders as it was forwarded to the incorrect address (spoke to usps). Customer service was atrocious to work with and did not assist in remedying this issue. I ended up disputing the charge with my bank.

    I just do not see where this is applicable. Maybe somebody wants a copy of a skeleton key? It’s not exactly what I would call a trustworthy option for a spare dimple key. Just buy a new padlock and you’ll get two or three new keys with it? Instead, we’re gonna be sitting in our vans looking like we’re smoking meth. This is what happens when engineers have way too little work to do at their actual job and too much free time on their hands. 😂

    It's nice. But if you already have a key to copy . Why would I need it. Just take the key out and copy it on a machine, and be done with it . Hell it would be better to have something like that where you can put in a cut down key in it and then melt down the metal and pour it in the mold so you can have a soft impressing key

    It’s for committing a crime with a key you only have for a short period. Aka you only have about 1-2min with someone’s key while they are not present and you want to gain entry into wherever. Or at work you have access to a whole key ring.. but can’t leave the job without returning keys.. so it’s for dirty criminals or spy wannabes.. you could impression a bathroom key at a 7-eleven which is a f-ing dumb idea… but you could do it rapidly in the bathroom and then pour into the saved impression later on when you have time.. but still f-ing dumb of course

    From personal past experience, I’ve been in a position where I could not allow the “owner” of the key to ever know their key(s) were copied. In one instance my plans required me take the keys to the hardware store and return them before the folks woke up and this would have been less stressful. But if you’re not a piece of shit criminal like I was then there aren’t many needs for it. Still a cool gadget that I wish I’d had!
