That would depend on what she's plating. She's not working in a biosafety cabinet, so whatever she's plating is probably harmless. Many biologists working with non-harmful strains on a countertop don't wear gloves - they are cumbersome and they don't provide any benefit (they aren't sterile, so touching something with a gloved hand will still contaminate it for example).

Yeah, my main concern was the integrity of whatever sample she was working with. You don't want to compromise days of incubation with whatever nasties are on your hand. I am not a biologist, just an intelligent man who felt like chiming in for the sake of those who are educating themselves through KZread videos, which is as good as any public education we have in the U.S.
