Replacing the Shed Roof - Another zero cost allotment winter project

It's very wet down the allotment with all the rain we've had lately, so a perfect time to replace an old felt roof on the shed I inherited last year. There's a lot of water damage to work around but I've got some old metal roof panels to work with which should improve the waterproofing ongoing. As usual it's a zero cost project with recycled screws and nails, a bit of prep work to do to, and to be honest I still need to do some finishing off, but as a project its nearly there.

I'm also quite glad, I was a bit worried up there, and I managed to cut all that metal without more than a few cuts and bruises, so I'm calling it a win! Cheers

Thanks - I may need to plug in a couple of gaps but should be a lot more watertight now, and I can get on with my interior decor! Cheers

@@DigDaveDig Totally agree getting started is often the hardest bit of any daunting task. Great sense of pride and achievement once you do get it done.

So good. Applause. I was so pleased to see those pieces go on the top of the roof, like a puzzle. One piece slats over the other. I was heartened. I thought, he's gonna do it. And, you did do it. You fixed the roof without pulling the.... i need more help, more equipment, more this, more that. You did not give up. You are good .

Thankyou, maybe I didn't quite get the roof fixed first time , but I got there in the end. Once I set my mind on something I'll get it done, maybe I'm just stubborn. Thanks for the comment. Cheers

Great job Dave. I would toss some screws in around the edges and where it overlaps for when the windy season comes. Now that the clubhouse is nice and dry I'm guessing the next step will be picking out the paint colour and getting wallpaper samples.

Yes I've made the edges secure but will be doubling down on the edges when I'm next in DIY mode. Next step once it's watertight is actually putting some windows in to add light, at the front and sides, only then can i really wallpaper and get my chandeliers in, though I'm working on my colour mood board right now ;)

Nice work Dave. There was one point when I thought you were a gonna but you pulled it off. Hopefully if we ever get a dry warm spell it will dry out a bit. I would describe it as ALLOTMENT CHIC 🤘

Thanks, I had a couple of dodgy moments there but managed to get away with it. It'll hopefully dry out soon enough , think I caught most of it in time . Definitely allotment chic. Cheers

I can't get over the caravans on site. We're not even allowed sheds! Very jealous.

They are a feature of our allotment that's for sure - not sure many would actually move anymore and over the years the number of them reduces as they slowly get older, I wonder how many of them there were say 20+ years ago when smaller pullable caravans were more popular. Sorry to hear about your daft rules - sheds are fun - hopefully as demonstrated in this video!

@@DigDaveDig there's loads of restrictions like maximum 2m sq for a polytunnel. But there is a 14 year plus waiting list for council plots and I wangled my way onto a private one. That being said it's better than nothing 10m by 7m.
