Replacing some concrete roof tiles
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I had a couple of cracked roof tiles that needed to be replaced, so I tried my hand at replacing them. I already had several extra roof tiles that I believe are from the builder, so I just used those to replace the broken tiles even though the colors on the roof have faded some.

Thanks a ton for this video. Solar installers cracked a few concrete tiles, and I was able to very easily replace them with the information from your video... and I didn't even need to wear full Y swag to get it done!
I actually used crazy glue to glue broken pieces to each other without removing broken tile. Lol. That was a few years ago - still has held up. I wish I knew them how to do this
Regarding the chipped corner tiles; typically chipped tiles are not a concern unless they extend beyond the 3" head lap. If they do extent near or past the lap, they should be replaced as water can wick and influence the felt. Repeated moisture influence will cause the felt to deterioration prematurely. This was great. My tiles were able to be replaced the same way!
Thank you so much! I can,t believe it was that easy!!!!
Sweet gloves... Slamson is my hero!
Thank you for the information great job
Nice video ! I have a cracked tile up there, but too bad don’t have the replacement in hand. Have to go buy it tomorrow! Thanks
What is tricky is finding match tiles for your roof if it is over 5 years old...good Idea to stock up when you first put up your roof!
Helpful video, thanks.
How do you change the tile at the very top that cracked? The one above that
i have a tiled roof with a bad pitch water getting in at the gutter is it moss its a flat tile....thanks
There is no way this will work on my roof in Florida. Each tile is secured with two stainless screws so to push ones up you would need to break the tiles. Also if you don't have some method to secure the tiles after reinstalling the new ones they just slide down over time and you have to fix them again. I have had a roofer glue them but that also goes bad over time. Love the roof but repair is a nightmare.
Are the tiles 100 percent concrete ? Or is there any other ingredient like poly
This is a realistic roofer... use liquid nails and make sure its for exterior / uses for masonary which will work for the tile chips

I was wondering the same thing. I have noticed that my tiles are nailed every other row. I wonder if that is typical.
Why was your ridge tiles not cement beded on????
Thanks for the video. I hope you nailed those tiles back in. I couldn't tell if you did. Also, I like your gloves.

Thanks for this video. It's super helpful! Curious how you broke a tile while you were up there? Just wondering so I can try to be extra careful myself when I work on my own tiles.

I stepped in the middle of the tile, At the bottom and at the top, the tile is directly supported underneath, but in the middle its hollow so thats the weak spot.
Tiles aren't nailed down?
But how do you make the other leaves go up if they are nailed?

Does anyone have an idea about how much it would cost to replace 5 broken concrete tiles?

I would say around £150 to £300 depending on the roofer and distorted would have to travel and if there a sole trader or a big team

If you are in a larger city, you can go to what roofers call the Boneyard. These are where builder and roofer sell back extra unused tiles for display and reselling.. it helped with you have an intact sample of what you have, manufacturer is often printed in the bottom of the tile, boneyard people may by helpful in pointing in the right direction and direct you to the general vicinity on where to drive, they you look and handle the tiles that look good, I would suggest after all that effort you buy some extras, because if it happened once, it’s going to happen again.
How come some on nailed and some are not?

On my roof, every other row was nailed. I'm not a roofer so I don't know if that is normal.
I'm just not going to worry about those broken corners....
Why not just glue those 2 pieces back together with some RT600?

If they are Marley modern, you shouldn’t have to pay more than £1.20 per tile, in bulk they come in at about £1.05
