Replacing power steering reservoir and seals to fix leak 2011-2014 Dodge Charger Chrysler 300

Ойын-сауық

Do you have a Dodge Charger or Chrysler 300 with an electric power steering pump, that is leaking fluid or making noises? Don’t take it to a shop for costly repairs.. check your fluid level FIRST, and if low, replace this reservoir with the seals to stop the leak and prevent further damage. These electric power steering pumps can be very expensive, save yourself the money and stop the leak before the pump is ruined. Like comment subscribe if this video helps.

    Good video but for all y’all that are changing it changed both of the o-rings. Go ahead and just take the whole pump down. Trust me it’ll save you in the long run. It comes with two O-rings for a reason. But either way bro, this was a good video. Thank you for the help.

    I just looked for 2 hours to find a video of this year charger showing the actual power steering pump. I Google it , did all the things. Your video is the only video I've found that actually shows it. Thank you ...

    Great video. My 2013 Dodge Charger power steering pump died at around 39k. Crappy quality part.

    You can use mopar transmission fluid for the power steering. :)

    Most of the time that’s true that transmission fluid will be fine for power steering, but these pumps are not like normal power steering pumps, these are electric, not belt driven and as such are under different conditions and very picky.. I would not risk it with these, I only make this comment to encourage viewers who may see this, don’t risk damage to your very expensive electric power steering pump by putting fluid in that’s not specifically made for these pumps. Not worth the few dollars you may save in my opinion, but if it works for you I’m happy for ya!

    Not sure what you would call it to try and order it, best to ask a dealership, they may know. Otherwise go to a junk yard and pick off what you need yourself

    Bought mine on rockauto.com, came with a new plastic reservoir container along with all seals needed. You do not have to replace the whole pump if your pump is not damaged.

    I have a 2012 dodge charger with issues with the steering wheel shuddering when I make in/out turns into a parking area. I changed the steering pump but still have the issue. Anybody have an idea what is going on?

    If you ran it low on fluid or out of fluid for too long you may have damaged your actual steering rack but a mechanic checking it in person can give you a better answer. If that’s your problem expect to spend a good chunk of money to fix it.

    Could also be something simple like tie rods or wheel bearings a good mechanic will check the whole front end for looseness

    Had this problem recently, and I checked the resivor, and was 4 ounces low. Bought the right fluid, topped it off, problem fixed. No more shuddering.

    What would be the signs that the pump itself is bad?

  • @Herringautomall

    @Herringautomall

    If you have fluid in the pump and the seals are good and your power steering still isn’t working, that’s a good sign your pump is bad. If you’re not sure you may have to take it to a reputable repair shop; sometimes running low on fluid will cause the front end steering gears to wear out and that would be a different story.

    As mentioned in the vid these cars don’t have conventional power steering pumps, they are electric and not visible unless you take the wheel off and the fender liner. They are behind the passenger side fender liner hidden very well.

    Man...much more faster and easier will be to remove the whole pump unit, it's 4 bolts easy for unscrewing. And when you have the pump unit in your hands than replace the reservoir
