I've always been a fan of the Super Distortion. A great, big, thick sounding rock and roll pickup. They have a lot of punch and are very open sounding. I love them.

Those dimarzios sound mean and gritty, and make it look like something straight out of the 70s too

Every Def Leppard song were recorded with this pickup , even Eddie loved those.

I would definitely go with a modern, wax potted Super Distortion.

I didn't think the Burstbuckers sounded that bad. But I can see how you like the Super Distortion pups. They are well suited to your playing style. Man, I'd like to see how you would sound with one of those "Virtual Jeff" rigs on that guitar. Badass black on black. You won't have to worry about tuning. I hope all is ok, John...

I just like the idea of keeping old things in service; it's great that that pair of SDs get to stay in the same guitar.

My 2011 Gibson Midtown Custom came with Burstbucker 1 in the neck position and Burstbucker 2 in the bridge & they sound Fantastic_ but you are absolutely right , the Burstbuckers in your SG did Not sound good at all _ but the Dimarzios sound Great_ Vast improvement _!!

I don't like the sound of the burst buckers but those super distortions are really nice.
