As Gloucester born-and-not-inbred, this map saddens me greatly. The forest isn't a significant enough part of the county for its reputation to overtake the rest of us. Blackpool is a Unitary Authority so basically it”s doing its own little thing and don”t have anything to do with Lancashire County council but the Queen thinks it is part of Lancs so the Lord Lieutenant for the Ceremonial county of Lancashire also somehow opens hospital wings and visits piano recitals in Blackpool.

The bit about Cornwall got me thinking a bit because whenever I say I'm from the south west people assume I'm from Cornwall even though Devon has the most population. Do Americans do this with Florida? Also something of note I know that Florida was colonised by the Spanish whereas further north the colonies were British this does kind of parallel Cornwall being the last part of the south west with Celtic influence.
@judeedwards746
2 жыл бұрын
It’s sort of like that. Most people would say Florida is not part of “the south” except for maybe the panhandle in the northwest of the state. Florida very much has its own kind of culture because of a high population of Hispanic people (esp. Cubans), retired adults, tourists, etc. However, Florida is highly a populous state, both compared to the south and in general which is why it’s so important for elections.
As someone who lives in Cornwall this is semi accurate not in the winter tho past few days chucking it down

It's not only the two, Gateshead, N. Tyneside, S. Tyneside. All 3 areas high population density. Tyne & Wear Borough Council doesn't exist anymore. Basically Newcastle & N. Tyneside were always integrated historically ,Gateshead which generally was in many joint projects with Newcastle has started to fund joint projects with Sunderland & S. Tyneside now.

The question of weather the Isle of Man is or is not a part of the UK may be solved by answering one simple questions: does the Isle of Man have one or more MPs representing its citizens in Westminster? If so, the Isle of Man is a part of the UK. If not, the Isle of Man may depend on the UK, it may even "belong" to the the UK (if you want to put things that way), but it is not an integral part of the UK.
West Virginia shoulda been in Derbyshire or a part of Yorkshire cause of the former mining industry.
