There can only be 9 Harshiras/Pillars because that Harshiras/Pillars in Japanese is writen as 「柱」Also written in 9 strokes, but if one Harshira/Pillar retire or di!d, somebody can get in the place as the new Hashira/Pillar. To become a Harshira/Pillar, you must kill a member of the 12 kizuki and 50 other demons. Then, you can train under someone and create another breathing technique just like Mitsuri becomeing Rengoku's succesor.

it’s either a twelve kizuki OR 50 demons, however u have to be rank kanoe to become a hashira and that’s why tanjiro isn’t hashira yet. Also the third way u could become hashira is become a successor to a hashira, normally by close observation of a hashira or from being a tsuguko

How is he considered a pedo? Giyuu is well over 18 and tengen is in his 20s as well. I don’t think you understand the concept. Being a pedo means you are an adult (over 18) who is attracted to children (under 18). Therefore the ship is ok in terms of age. Re-educate yourself.
