Replace ISP ONT/ONU - Ubiquiti UFiber LOCO - Overview & Configuration
In this video, I will show you an overview of the UFiber LOCO and how to configure it with the UFiber.Configurator application. As an example, we will clone the information of an ZTE ONT to the UFiber LOCO. The information cloned are the GPON Serial Number, PON Vendor ID and WAN mac address.
Besides the Ubiquiti UISP OLT, the UFiber LOCO/UFiber Nano also support third-party OLT such as Huawei MA5608T, MA5683T, MA5800-X15, MA5800-X7, FiberHome AN5516-04 and ZTE ZXA10, .etc. However, it may not work with your current ISP's OLT. Therefore, before purchasing, check the compatibility first.

Many thanks for your sharing!
Thank you so much you helped me out
Thank you very much for your help good luck ❤❤
I make this change with Ufiber Nano G and working without any problem👌😎😇
Hi @vantech, does the ufiber configurator work to change the Mac address on firmware 4.4.2 and above? it doesn't seem to work on my end.
Isn't it necessary to setup the correct PLOAM (GPON) password for this setup to work? I have an ISP home gateway but can't find PLOAM password anywhere.
To someone out there smarter than myself can I use the Nano in tandem with a Wifi 6 router to replace my Altice Fiber Gateway by Optimum?
my ISP is using Dasan Zhone OLT, would it be compatible with Uf-Nano
Can you help me? I followed your entire video... I managed to change the serial, the Mac and the vendor. It connects to the Vodafone fiber i.e. the TX and RX parameters record the network, but the problem is that it does not connect to the internet. PS. I set it as bridge. The old ont is a ZTE model f6005.
how much about this device, can more than 1gbps speed?green sc pon can not input into blue sc pon?
Can these be used as bridges ?
I'm getting a BIP error instead of Connected. Can you please help
Apologise for the dumb question, but what is the advantage of replacing the ONT/ONU? I haven't done much with fibre before but from my understanding is that the ONT/ONU is pretty much just a media converter. Even the ISP provided one should be able to get the maximum throughput? Is there any features you gain by using your own ONT/ONU?

Some ISP's deliver crappy modems with built-in ONU in them and manage it all themselves.

@kaiowasdeath thank you for the reply! so this is more useful in the case when the ISP provided ONT is built into the modem, and not when the modem and ONT are independent of each other?
Hello, finding your video here helpful... I am just returning to the networking scene after 15 years of absence from production environments. I need a little assistance with the Ubiquiti GPON configuration tool installation. I am on MAC OX 14 should I just copy the library and config to my applications folder? Then do I call it up as its own app or is it used from the SSH configuration. I am new to Ubiquity and i am trying to deploy a UDR and I want to use the GPON NANO I purchased to interpret the fiber light to digital signals for the router. I haven't used network tools in a while, so I would appreciate a little direction to get me going. Thank you for your assistance!

Hey, apologize for the very late response. Did you manage to settle that?
Can routing be done on the device itself? Plugging in a dumb network switch on the gigabit port. No need for additional router.

yes you can use it as a router but the throughput in that mode is around 220mbps up/down max and it has very limited funcionality, would not reccomend
MULTICAST !!!
Hello, I just tried to find assistance on what I might need to rename the UFiber configurator file to assist with the installation on my MAC. I did not find any assistance, so could you direct me to the instruction or offer a solution. Thank you! Yes, that is my comment below also.
Do you have an Edgerouter X SFP? It would be great to see if you could do the same using the SFP port on that machine.

In order to directly connect the fiber cable to the Edgerouter X SFP, you will need a GPON SFP module. I have all the mentioned devices and is working on the video.
Is it possible to change WAN settings? All fields are greyed out, and I can't even switch from static to PPPoE
@VanTechCorner

From what I know, PPPoE/router mode only supported if you are using Ubiquiti OLT.
Is possible to check the configuration it downloads from olt? Replaced my F660 with it and internet works but I need vlan id for iptv.

Hi, I don’t think it is possible. If you still have the F660, try login to the Web-UI and see if you can find the IPTV VLAN somewhere.

@@VanTechCorner my isp blocks web-ui access and they only allow to configure ont via their website but there are only the most basic options like change wifi password and set port forwarding. They even don't allow to put their ont in bridge mode, I had to call them few times and finally talk with manager to make it possible.
Can we do something for coaxial cable internet? My ISP do not allow to use custom modem…

All of the ISPs in my region are using fiber, sorry I can't help on this. However there are a lot of topics on the OpenWrt forum. If yours case/your ISP is new, you can start a thread to discuss.

can i use Ubiquiti UF-WIFI 4-Port GPON Router with Wifi to clone the information of an huawei ONT to it?

This device is specifically designed to use Ubiquiti OLT. From what I know, it doesn't support third-party OLT.
would you please help on the issue that I set LOCO to bridge mode and it's connect but i can't access to LOCO and I don't want to reset device

Do you remember the IP address of the LOCO? You can try to set up your PC's NIC IP address to the one which in the same subnet with the LOCO's IP, and then try to ping /access it.
What about VLAN can it be changed? Didn’t find any CLI commands list

UFiber series are designed to work with Ubiquiti OLTs. If you need more control on the ONT/ONU, take a look at other ONT/ONU, such as devices from LEOX (LeoLabs), and those GPON SFP module, such as Nokia G-010S-A, HSGQ XPON, etc
C an this set up help me lower my pings.
@VanTechCorner

Hi, I don’t think it will lower your ping but it can keep your Internet/GPON connection stable.

Ca it be use with AC UPC fiber?

Yes, but there will be signal lost. You better buy an adapter for that, it is cheap and widely available.
it has NOT multicast!

I see. Please, try the LEOX LXT-010S-H (kzread.info/dash/bejne/eWeqw5mRZLPAdtI.html), or the HSGQ XPON (tested, working IPTV with multicast kzread.info/dash/bejne/p5qutJqeZNDbkso.html)
