Great video John, and these short video's are a top idea 😊 Just as an addition for anyone with an older van, the procedure is virtually the same for the Ducato/Boxer/Relay 2002/2006 models. Only difference being is instead of having the slider feet to locate the headlight, the older model has a pin about halfway down at the back that just pops out, to put back together just line up the pin and give it a slight push to pop it back in 😊

My Sprinter failed the MOT on headlight alignment. It was a Xenon and a single light was £1200, so this would have been a lot cheaper by far 🙄

I was looking for a video about changing the indicator bulbs on my 1997 Ducato and found myself on Bob Earnshaw's page. Guess what? In his video he sent me here ! Well I never, the places you find yourself when you fall down the YT hole ! So now I have to change my headlight bulbs. All the best, Pete

A note. To anyone with an old fist Talbot or per hot ,the aside light is connected to the headlight you'll need to sniff the register wire. Or both wwoork oon sidelight

Hi G J Thanks for the video, I've found with the H4 and H7 Led replacement that the plastic molded alignment 3 pronged tab is bayoneted to the bulb body, this is to allow the older style centre hole rubber boot to be fitted onto the lamp before fitting. You can then either fit the mount into the globe first and clamp that in place before installing the lamp into the bayonet. Or assemble both bits with the boot in between and with dexterity manipulate the bulb/lamp into the holder. Too many of the other videos show the boot beibg cut to fit over the fan unit. The issue is the bayonet fitting in the plastic mount isn't handed and you can with the dual element H4 install the unit in upside down. I even found that some from the manufacturer are in correctly assembled and so it is good to check post instalation that the hi lo beam is in the right place. Would be good to show others this should you have a spare led H4 bulb to demonstrate Cheers 👍👍 To your channel

As long as you get a good b2b, like sterling, then once you configure it (it mostly does this itself on first use) the b2b will start to fully maintain your battery and will know when to give it loads of little charge. The 30A version will be more than enough for your 1 battery 👍🏼

As I explained in the video there’s a tab to align the headlamp in that way. As far beam alignment you follow the instructions with the bulbs and your vehicle 👍🏼

@@janetbeaumont1562 If that is correct then it would have been better to just say what you have experienced re the mot. John do you have a comment on this? Maybe because your previous van was new it would not need a mot so this is interesting re led bulbs.

@@janetbeaumont1562 Apparently you can. There is no MOT advice that advises against the type of the bulb only if it affect the beam pattern. Have you specific experience if so what was the failure down too was it a non conforming beam pattern? I brought this up today with John who advises that he has performed almost 20 upgrades with no MOT fails.

👍 Great video John, it should be noted that touching the LED with your fingers will have no effect on the life of the bulb, that is purely a precaution for Incandescent/Halogen bulbs, while it's advisable to get in the habit of not touching the glass of Bulbs, it's really not necessary with these LED bulbs.. Thanks.

It’s just 12v and the headlights look identical, so I’d say they’ll work fine.

Hello another great video. I was going to upgrade my van last year however after some reading it seems they are not legal to use as a replacement article. H7 headlights must use a halogen headlight bulb that’s the H. Not sure if you have found a loophole as l notice your headlight like mine has a LED daylight driving component to it. Does this component make it a L headlight. What is your view on the regulation.

My view is the regulation is contradictory and very outdated, many manufacturers use led headlamp bulbs now, so if I use one and the beam pattern is correct and no other drivers are being dazzled, then I’ll take that as a very good bulb, that it’s using less power and gives better night driving vision should really be looked at favourably.

Great vlog mate, just ordered both sets just hope don't get pulled over by the French police for being to bright :-)

...That was straight forward , on some vehicles to change headlight Bulbs you need to strip down the front of the vehicle .... LOL.. ........thanks John/Mandy keep posting about anything at this time, even pumping up the tyres, it's a crazy time, haha.................

I'm fairly new to your channel and I have found your videos to be interesting and informative. I have replaced the dipped beam bulbs to the Katur H7 in my MH and will replace the main beam bulbs before my next trip. But I'm just curious as to why you chose the Novsight bulbs for the main beam as opposed to getting another set of Katurs. The fittings are both H7. Additionally, the Katurs are advertised as 12000 lm, but the Novsight only 10000 lm, so again would another set of Katurs have been better?

If you get the bulbs I bought and install them in the way I did it’ll then not dazzle oncoming traffic and will pass an mot.

hi John, after taking your advice regards the new headlights bulbs, to say i’m chuffed to bits is an understatement, what a difference, so thank you very much. I owe you a pint👍. Another question if you don’t mind, would the same bulbs fit my mates 2014 Ducato van based motorhome do you know?. cheers and definitely hold me to that pint, Al 👍👍

One nag I have with motorhomes is not being able to see well when reversing even with the aid of a camera. I always use fog light to aid the process. My question is have you swapped out the standard reversing bulb for the LED equivalent. I know I could just add more lights to the back however it’s easy to swap out a bulbs if you have swapped these out what details have you. Also regulation on reversing lights are less restrictive regards to you both and cooper.

It sounds like you need your headlights aligning or the bulbs aren’t seated 100%. I don’t get any issues like that in this van nor the last van. 🤷🏼‍♂️

John would you know what voltage led bulbs I would need for my day running lights I’ve ordered exactly what you have put in main leds but size and voltage day running lights any idea ?

Are These the type that when I'm in my car and the van behind has them on I have to move my interior and door mirror so I don't get dazzled no matter what distance the van is from me ?

It’s likely you’re seeing the old HID bulbs or maybe LED which hasn’t been installed correctly so the beam pattern is pointing up and at oncoming traffic.

Nice one John. Can I ask a question about battery Ah. When putting the Ah rating into a battery monitor, do you use the C20 capacity eg 82 Ah or the C100 capacity eg 90 Ah. Thanks for your help Rob

That would depend on your usage, we live in the van and use all sorts of tech, so our usage is more of a faster drain like C20 states. 👍🏼

Hi John - lots of places showing full beam for my 2016 Citroen Relay as an H1 bulb and the dipped beam as H7. Is it just H7 on both for vehicles with DRL? Want to order these but don't want to get the wrong ones! Cheers

The monitor uses a shunt, well the decent ones do, and this shunt needs to handle the power load you’ll be using from your battery bank. So if you’ve got a few usb sockets, heater, lights & fridge then 100A shunt will do. But if you use a big inverter, like we use, then the 350A shunt is best.

Really want to upgrade my lights but there is chat that if you upgrade a halogen light to led it makes your insurance void. Is that true? Plus it won’t pass an mot? And the heat of the led light can damage your reflective surroundings of your lights. I was wondering if any of this is true?

LED lights are much cooler than halogen, so you will not damage the headlights. Our van has had 2 MOTs now and passed with the lights in and our insurance company doesn’t ask what bulbs we use.

I wouldn’t have produced this video of these were had any problems. As I said in the video, I’ve been using them for around 6 months and in 2 vehicles, without any issue. It’s all explained in the video 👍🏼

hi again john could explain how i fit the shunt on an autotrail ? it does not have the normal linked lead system it has two plugs that go to each battery ,,not sure if your familiar with these ,,but autotrail seems to be closed or not answering emails ? thanks rob

My old van had them. I removed them and wired battery a connector to a new fuse box. Then wire up your battery’s, I’ve got videos on that, then install your shunt, I recently showed that, and connect everything to the new fuse box. Now your shunt will work, the battery bank will be charged and discharged correctly and you’ll have a fuse box you can easily add things too 👍🏼

Look great but when I fit mine, I got people flashing at me as the brightness was dazzling. And when in traffic the headlight shone straight in to the car in front as the van sits higher... also what about MOT as there is no beam pattern with the LED lights??

Make sure the led bulb sits exactly where the old bulb did and check your beam pattern is the correct wedge shape.
