Replace capacitor in AC unit

With the hot weather and AC units working hard, you might come across the common problem with your AC unit where the capacitor stops working and needs to be replaced.
The symptom is that your AC comes ON but no cold air comes out. You go outside and you see the fan is not working (the fan outside should be working when the AC unit is on at thermostat.)
You set the temperature on thermostat to lower temp, you see AC come on, you go outside and fan is not running. That is a sign of a blown capacitor. ( most likely )
A couple of years ago when our downstairs unit had problem , I ordered capacitors from Amazon and changed the faulty one. today our upstairs AC unit’s capacitor died. I had a spare capacitor and replaced the faulty one with it. I took some pics and put together this quick how to instructions, in case you can use them.
( dealing with electrical circuit etc so safety is important. If you haven’t done these types of work before I recommend calling a technician anyway. But if you have done this type of work at home, watching this may help
speed things up for you. )
