Great video, but it made no sense to me!!! LOL I'm currently working on a hobby repeater, ie, (uhf/uhf) and was wondering how to set the repeater tones, as i am making my own. I am not a amatuer licensed op, and am in the process of disabling those frequencies on my dual band radio. i'm not sure if you can help me.... Thanx, Mick

What is a downlink tone what's it used for and how do you program an in do you need to program an in I read somewhere that it's not totally necessary but I've seen some repeaters that have a downlink tone

How do you know what are tone freq ? I have some repeteators freq but no tone. Anny info? Thanks

Hi, George. When your CTCSS code is transmitted, is it received on 145.490 and then transmitted by the repeater on 144.890?

No. It's received on 144.890, because that's the transmit frequency to the repeater. Output frequency of the repeater is 145.490. The CTCSS is sent to the repeater via the transmit frequency to turn it on. The CTCSS is essentially the ringer on the phone to the repeater.

i expected you to kerchunk about 50 repeaters and was hoping to hear 50 different tones lol

Do you need a ham license before you can get the numbers of the repeater to broadcast on and the tone?
