What really kills me about this take on Spiderleg is how he distanced himself from his children because he was so afraid of the pain of losing them. But in that moment when he's sitting by his son's deathbed, and Toadstep is looking up at him, it's like Spiderleg realises that he didn't save himself from the pain. He just robbed himself of the ability to enjoy what time with his loved ones he DOES have. And he looks so full of regret and pain at not having gotten to know his son sooner. It hurts!!

One thing that I absolutely love about this fandom is when people dig up those seemingly barely developed background characters and fill in the gaps to their loose story and make them so likable, give their actions motivation and depth and even make you feel bad for not caring about those characters before. Great storyboard btw, this map will be amazing once it’s finished.

I think good examples for interesting bg characters are Daisy, Longtail, Stonefur, Frostfur, Speckletail and Gorsepaw, to name a few.

I forgot to say this earlier on but the thought that Spiderleg left to die alone is both incredibly sad but also quite realistic since cats do this in real life too!

The implication of him catching the sickness from while he was grieving over Toadstep just stabbed me in the heart and threw me off a cliff onto sharp rocks

One thing that I noticed, is that a red cardinal appears just when someone Spiderleg is close to is about to die, for example, Shrewpaw pouncing at one before being hit by a car and Toadstep hunting one before getting ill. Red cardinals are known to mean spiritual messengers, particularly when a loved one is letting you know that they are there. This is extremely tragic how each time these reminders are there, death follows. This turns a very well meaning and wholesome fact sour, and I can't help but see that in this. I don't know if that was intentional, but I love analyzing this either way!! I can't wait to see the final product :)

Late reply, but I also love how they also added a blue butterfly in that once scene when he meets Dasiy. Blue butterflies are often considered a symbol of love/ a chance of rebirth.

I never really liked Spiderleg but this makes me rethink everything. I love this take on why he always acts so distant. The entire storyboard explains it so well, Spiderleg's expressions are right on point

This is the most DEPRESSING Warrior cat map or even art I've ever seen. it's not just sad imo,it's depressing, There's no happy end, And the fact there's no other background cats makes it feel so lonely and changes the atmosphere dramatically. Usually when a character is sad or dies We can fall back on the other characters but this doesn't even give us a chance. I absolutely love this I can't even explain it right now. Warriors art makes me feel allot but this one is different usually I know what I'm feeling lol Thank you so much for making this and I can't wait to see it finished but I genuinely do not think I'm ready though this is tough

Im looking at whats IN the au not the canon Also while on the journey in the books at least and hinted at here, the cats were worried their spirits or starclan wouldn't even follow them to their new territory. And feather tails ghost and some spirits don't follow their clans home. So that could ass to the sadness but thank you

I want too but it's complicated and that kinda melts into my view of warriors so Im sorry but Thankyou for reminding they have a "Heaven" and it actually does end happy enough eventually. It just takes the cats a couple of years to see each other again😊

not interested in any parts but wanted to drop my comment that this is a PHENOMENAL storyboard. extremely excited about this project, especially for a character that rarely is touched on in this way

came back to rewatch this masterpiece after learning that Cardinals are symbol of lost loved ones always being with us and I am absolutely crushed,,,, amazing symbolism Haven't been so excited for a map in a while! Emotions in animatic alone are so well portrayed 👀

I always liked Spiderleg, you don’t really realize how much losing a loved one can affect how a person acts. The trauma can make us respond in different ways, and sometimes that way may be hurtful to others.

0:40 this little kitten makes me so sad i love this storyboard

I love this take on Spiderleg! Really shows as to why he could´ve acted so absent to his kits. I´d love to take a part in this MAP! If it´s possible, either part 10, 20, 25 or 18. If I don´t get a part, I´d also like to be backup. Ferncloud and Willowpelt are pretty underrated, they had to go through so much, I love them.

Yes I'm glad there's more of a reasoning other than "he was a jerk" Never sat right with me and I've been waiting for explanation on his character since.

This actually gave me a lot more appreciation for Spiderleg and his family. It also explained why he wasn't really present in his kids lives which I didn't think that much about before.

Ahhhh I shouldn't but I can't resist omg. Parts I'd like in order of preference: 23 & 24a, 23 (not interested in 24a by itself), 18 & 19, 16 & 17, or 29! It's been a while since I've read the books so I can't say any were memorable enough for me to consider my favourite haha

I always felt this guy got the short end of the stick in the fandom for his actions, and this feels like a proper tribute to the poor guy. I look forward to this getting finished, but this storyboard is plenty enough for me! Too scared to bond because he suffered enough loss, yet it still backfired. As much of an irritating character he may have been, I liked him because his fear of loss and intent to not bond hit close to home. In fact, the entire family tree pretty much had it horrible, so many died and so many had to deal with that grief. It was like the pain of loss was inevitable no matter your action in his lineage, and he was doomed to make the worst choice as he tried to break the cycle.

I love how the cardinal is there every time a cat dies or is about to die. It's a really cool detail.

Spiderleg is so underrated. I’ve only seen one other MAP on him,and that was Northflowo’s Legs MAP lol.

This MAP looks so cool ! I don't see too many projects with Spiderleg, and I think the way you're portraying him is very interesting. I'll be keeping an eye out for the complete MAP ! =D

So happy that you kept working on this project again! I'd love part 3, 5, 14, 20 and 21. Super happy to see minor characters having their deserved spotlight. Hm hm I find Spiderleg's younger brother, Birchfall, very intriguing. Lilyheart, Juniperclaw and Runningnose are also interesting minor characters. But my favorite and no one can touch him is Stormcloud, too baby and too underrated.

@@thedubas2677 hey this isn’t me trying to be rude or anything but don’t ask for parts in another persons comment as they are usually ignored, I know it might seem like your chances are lower if you ask in the sea of comments but most MAP hosts have a system to see every part, also make sure you read and understand the rules and make sure you actually have the time and motivation to complete the part Also Northflowo has a good video about joining Maps so maybe you should try to give it a watch, it’s very useful!

Thank you for introducing me to one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.

Spiderleg is a truly tragic character. He lost five of his six siblings (including a brother from one litter), namely Shrewpaw, Hollykit, Larchkit, Foxleap and Icecloud. He lost his parents, Ferncloud and Dustpelt, separated from his partner Daisy, and never had a good relationship with his children, Rosepetal and Toadstep. Toadstep died along with Icecloud, and sometime after Spiderleg's death, Rosepetal also left for StarClan. In fact, the only close relative of Spiderleg that hasn't died is Birchfall.

I love this, it portrays him in a more sympathetic light than most projects, it’s a nice spin on his story! Also absolutely gut wrenching:( he experienced so much death, even for Warriors standards.

i rarely see anything about spiderleg, this is fantastic

I was never a fan of Spiderleg. Honestly, I’m not a fan of a bunch of other cats, such as Berrynose, Breezepelt and others. But, I feel like if we got a short novella or comic about them we would actually understand why they act in such dislikable ways. I remember hating Mudclaw and not liking Nightpelt/star, but ever since I read their comics, they became some of my favourite characters. (Nightpelt is my No.1 Favourite actually.) There is more to Mudclaw than a selfish villian, and there is more to Nightpelt than an annoying and weak ‘elder’ who became leader. If a Spiderleg comic or novella ever comes out, I’m getting it and reading it. I’d love to see what his motives actually were, and why he became the way he was. And I also feel like half of unfriendliness came from Mousefur, because she was his mentor.

Your storyboard is so freaking good, you should be proud of yourself! I'm interested in part 4, could also work with someone in collaboration. My favourite minor characters are Brackenfur, Thrushpelt, Yellowfang and Whitestorm.

I don't think I've seen a warrior cats map make me so simply, truly sad as I am rn, can't wait for the finished map, it'll definitely make me sob

OH MY GOD I just need to say this has to be one of the most impressive storyboard I ve ever seen,, everyhting from the expressions of the characters, the timing, to the composition of the shots and the layouts are absolutely outstanding This is destroying to watch but man this is beautiful truly is a masterpiece ,,,,

I havent cried this much over a Warriors MAP since Stonefur’s death from the You - Keaton Henson MAP

My goodness this storyboard is fantastic, emphasizes and builds more upon spiderleg’s story and character. I’d love to become a backup! One of my favorite side characters has to be birchfall, I don’t really know why, I just like him, smol boi

OMG this is like, a spectacular storyboard. Spiderleg has never been a major character, so it's amazing to see a storyboard on him! I'd be awesome if I could snag a part! I don't know if Brackenfur can be counted minor (since I haven't read much of the books) but if not, probably Stonefur or Sorreltail!

Wow, this storyboard is amazing! If I was to join this map, I would love to be able to get part 2, as I love animating cats and birds! I think that before his murder by tigerclaw, Redtail was an awesome cat, and I would have loved to read more about him in the first series of books!

The storyboard is very cleanly made! It’s also very easy to tell what’s going on.

God this storyboard got me SOBBING already. One of my favorite minor characters is Brindleface! I love the name and the character itself is very underappreciated! It was a shame we didn't get to see her develope more! This map make me cry real hard I am now Spiderleg's biggest defender applying for backup/helper! I think Runningnose is neat

This storyboard is so good and beautiful, the designs are gorgeous as well! I'd love either part 3, 7, 10, 18, 28 or backup ^^ Well, I really used to love Sorreltail and Runningnose, OH ALSO I absolutely loved Shaded Moss from DOTC, I felt like he would definitely be my favourite character but he died too soon... I love how much you've focused on the minor characters some of them are just so detailed. I would love parts 20, 24a+b, 10, 5, 29, 14, 18. Any part would be awesome tho! this map looks so cool, the somber energy is something that i think makes an animation project very neat. i would like so take part 20, 21, 2 or 31 please! fluttering bird was a character that made me quite sad, i wish we could’ve seen more of her.

I absolutely love Novo Amor, really looking forward to seeing this

Morals of the story: 1. Shrewpaw and Spiderpaw were really honorable cats when they tried to save their last sister. 2. Sadie Gleason makes very good storyboards. 3. You have no idea how much I want to strangle that red bird XD

this storyboard is great and i love it so much. i seriously cried watching it. like for real, as in i felt embarrassed and had to leave the room i was in because people were around me lol. toad’s face during pt 28* (i had wrote the wrong part oops) absolutely slammed me in the gut. one question though, is this an AU? because I thought shrewpaw was killed while going after a pheasant, not a cardinal.. i only say that because i have a vivid memory of the part in the books where his mentor says “it would have fed half of the clan.” but its your map and you get to decide how to depict what happened ^__^
