My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

I commend you for sharing the story about your brother especially when we consider there are over 100,000 people in the United States dying every year due to fentanyl alone. This was a message that took bravery on your part and much needed for people to hear. Blessings! BTW, I really like your channel and it has helped me tremendously. I have an old Four Wheeler that has been sitting for years and you just encouraged me to get it running!!!

I’m a hardcore scooterist. I bought a Vespa P200e that had been in a warehouse for 30 years with only 79 miles. It was rusty and I replaced the tank and put a carb kit in and was off and riding. 15 years later still riding. Eventually had to reseal the engine and replace the carb with a 24/24. I had a Honda Met initially and found a club to ride with and breathing all that two stroke smoke, I knew what my next step would be. And now I have 5.

You have no idea how common stories like that are nowadays. Thank you for sharing. Substance abuse has effected many families, mine included, and I wish our government would do more to help people and not punish them. I really think a full effort from our government, families and organizations can elevate most of the horror stories we have to listen to. Thanks Chickanic.

Great job getting it back together!!! I've had 3 Zuma's of those vintage through the years. I used to ride them to my work because they had free parking for motorcycles yet charged for cars. My first one I put 24,000 miles on it and still ran like a top. Combined all 3 I've probably got 40+K miles. Yamaha did some things right with those bikes. They really are amazingly fun and nimble bikes to ride!!! 🙂

I'm so sorry, I had a similar situation. My at the time 18yr old son was watching movies and having take out was waiting to be picked up by his friend. His friend did show up and my wife and I gave my son a hug and said we love you and we'll see you a little later, about 3 hours later a family friend who is a police officer was knocking on my door in tears. He said I need you to come with me your son was in a horrific car accident. A very bad fiery car accident. I had to go and identify him from a tattoo he had gotten a month earlier. He was a passenger in his buddy's car his friend was doing 89mph in a 25mph zone and lost control. Having to do that was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my entire life. I have nightmares of walking in and seeing him. I'm so so sorry Bre for what you had to do. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about your Dad, I can see why it took you a while to get to working on that thing. Scooters are my wheelhouse, I had many in my fleet until they were stolen. Something to be aware of if you aren't used to scooter or motorcycle carbs, the mixture screw for the idle circuit is the opposite from regular small engines. It's an air screw, not a fuel screw, so you turn it in to go richer and out to go leaner. Also, the black part on the carb is an auto enrichment (kinda like a choke) and it hooks up to power and comes on with the key. There is an internal heating element that slowly closes off a port on the filter side of the carb. When the engine is cold, air flows through and draws more fuel to richen the mixture, and it slowly closes as the engine warms up. And for anyone who has a two-stroke scooter and is having no low end issues, having the intake tract being complete and the filter in there and properly oiled is mission-critical! People like to remove the stock air box and swap out to a free flowing pod filter, and then the thing has absolutely no power. They are tuned to run stock parts and any changes makes them run like poop unless you do the proper tuning. A great place to buy aftermarket and other scooter parts is Scooter Swap Shop in Portland Oregon, They are awesome!.

First of all , my condolences to you on your loss. It's not easy on ones soul but you have shown me over the years of watching you that you are a bless women with a strong heart. Kudo's to you on the completion of a great project, really a moral builder. As a former mechanic I know the feeling of long over due projects setting to be completed as I've had a 53 F-100 torn down for 6 years now on a restoration along with smaller items waiting to be maintained. The smile on your face is all the rewards. As for a name for the puppy, you called her a sweety pie so it would only be appropriate to name her SWEETPEA !!

I just did some work on my 50cc scooter yesterday so I'm familiar with that carb. In case you're curious, that black cover that is on the electronic choke can lift up off of the electronic choke (without having to remove the screw that holds the electronic choke plate). Then what you do is rotate the choke (don't have to loosen the screw) so that when you push the cover back onto the choke, it also covers that exposed vent (if I remember correctly it vents into the float bowl - don't quote me on that one). Then if I remember correctly the other vacuum line goes to the gas flow valve. Hope that helps!

Takes alot to share your experience with your subscribers. I know something of what you've gone through. Lost my parents many years ago to health issues. And right around the time of your Dad's passing a sister lost her son. Was heartbreaking. All of these losses hurt. You keep on going, but many things that seemed important just get left behind, for a long time. As for your new pup, can't tell you what to name her, but she's sweet and she did luck out!👍 So, how about, "Lucky"? Anyway, I enjoy your small engine channel most of all the ones I subscribed to. The fact you're getting back into this project shows you're healing from your pain and your skills haven't suffered a bit. And perhaps your new buddy is a gift from above to put a stamp of approval on your progress. A kind of a gift. Keep it up and God bless. 🙏✝️👍

Thanks for sharing your brother's story, maybe it will help someone else. I have shared the experience of finishing a basket case after several years disassembly. In my case it was an Ariens snowblower with a frozen transmission input bearing. I did it right because I did it three times until I figured out the assembly sequence! It lived to work another twelve years before being traded on a new one.

A true dog person, that puts you on a higher pedestal for me. Being English Setter types we saved an elderly rescue Irish Setter. From a bad life into our family please trust me, they know and truly appreciate a caring family. Love, comfort, quality dog food, good healthcare and security every dog deserves. Their living creatures depending on you for literally everything.

I’m sorry about your dad. I’ve lost a lot of friends and almost did the same thing to my children. Got clean in 2000. What a nightmare this disease creates. Thank you for this project. He would be happy.

You said something that I often say as a math teacher; "If I can do it, you can do it." I just want you to know that because of you and Steve from Steve's small engines, I have changed 3 different carburetors, installed a new cable to kill my push mower, and built a kill switch for an old edger. All I can say is thank you. I'm sorry for the loss, but I'm super happy that you rescued the pup.

Your sharing what happened to your Dad with us was difficult I'm sure, I lost a brother the same way. When we share there is a connection between us. We all knew you are a great mechanic and we had no doubt you would get your Dad's scooter running. He would be proud of you. It was that dog's lucky day when he found you !

Saved time, money, frustration; maybe not. While I am coming to the party a little late, this has let me (and most likely many others) know that this strong, talented, beautiful woman we see on the outside is every bit as strong, beautiful, talented, as well as kind on the inside. In my years I've seen many check out of life for a lot less than you've endured. Believe me, KZread is a brighter place with you showing up! Plus it helps that I have a Burgman 650 scooter. Not in pieces, but not driven enough.

Well, to be perfectly honest. I thought it was very cool and refreshing. To see a female working on a moped? Especially my favorite kind type in model. I actually watched it and learned a few things from myself. Thanks for the video very kind of you and good for you.

I had a 2005 just like that one. I rode it for many years until a newer 125 came up for sale. The smoking is normal and I saw it every time I started it. Top speed is about 40 to 45 and they are great for running for things as you can scoot thru traffic much quicker that with a car if the distance is close and the speed limit is lower. I work EMS and the Coroner Office. I see overdoses often and am very sorry to hear of your loss.

I did. Got my 641 running again. Have two spare coils cause no one will take returns on electrical parts, and a spare condenser, as well as an extra set of points. But I sure learned a lot about a tractor distributer as well as what ought not be grounded.
