Easily my Dream horn, acquired one a few months back, $650. Absolutely beautiful shape, Valves work like the day it came off the line, no dents, minimal scratches, the gold on the Bell is still there and the case with all of the original mouthpieces and surprisingly enough Slide Grease. Serial is 126317, 1049, "s" is also stamped on one of the valves. Absolutely love the horn.

@@timyllym Just got the trumpet and after giving it a bath, shining the bell, greasing slides and oiling valves, it sounds great. Question: did these old trumpets have cork on valves? Seems to be missing. Springs feel worn. Thanks

@@MikeM91320 Great to hear! Yes, there should be cork washers in valve stems. You can get corks and new springs from any spare part sellers like Ferree's, they shouldn't cost too much.

fantastic job and great video, thanks for sharing. I've been after either one of these of the later model with the 'art deco' bracing. Problem is, they're all in the states and those which aren't in bad shape are expensive. The idea of fixing it at Trevor Head's has got me thinking!

Hello! Happy new year! I wanted to know how you cleaned this horn and got it looking so nice! Also, my “A” tuning slide is stuck and I want to know how I can get it unstuck! Thank you in advance

Hello Kevin! For cleaning I just used Silvo silver polish, but I think any silver polish will do fine. Stuck tuning slide may need a repairman for getting it out because there is a risk of damaging your instrument. You can try with some freeing agent you can find from a hardware store. See this video of a collegue kzread.info/dash/bejne/pWGhj6-ahJW5nqw.html but I don't recommend doing any hard maneuvers by yourself.

Any work needed on the valves? you didn't show the condition of the pistons. Thanks

The valves were quite worn and little too loose on their casings which caused some sticking. They would have needed to be replated and honed to work perfectly but they were ok with thick oil. Anyway, I have sold the trumpet so now it's up to the next owner.

3rd valve is getting stuck

That's right, it was a little sticky. The valves were really worn out which was probably the reason they didn't work perfectly. Unfortunately I hadn't practiced valve plating at that point so I left the valves as they were. I have already sold that horn.

What bore size do 1920’s liberty trumpets have?

They are medium bore .449" (11.40mm), but feel more free blowing probably because the mouthpiece gap is small.

wow...amazing work!! I have one and maybe you can help me. Where can I get the felts, corks and springs? seems impossible Mine has an serial number 73XXX so its a trumpet before 1926 when King introduced the 3 bell sizes but mine has an "L" stamped on the second valve under the serial number...what means that "L", large? Thank you very very much. I admire your work!

Thank You! Try to find the nearest brass repair tech in your area, he can help you with the felts etc. I'm not sure what L means. Liberty's at that age should have only one option, so no large bore or bell, but you never know.

I own a 1925 and 1930 King Liberty and have been wanting to get a replacement 3rd valve stop rod for both of them. Where did you find a replacement or could you recommend where I could find 2 that fit them? Thanks!

I bought a 2mm threaded brass rod from modelmotorcars.com but the thread interval (or width) wasn't exactly the same as in the trumpet. I was able to use it anyway, but I'm afraid I can't help with finding an exactly fitting rod.
