Repair Shop BLEW MY SOUND SYSTEM!! Blown Subwoofer, Scratched Amp, Broken Battery & Missing Carpet

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

WOW... Some repair shop totally EFFED UP my girlfriend's sound system. After picking up her car up from repairs, we quickly noticed that everything in the trunk was improperly disconnected and thrown back in THE WRONG WAY!!! And on top of that, the subwoofer was now BLOWN... making all sorts of mechanical noise, with the amplifier was BADLY scratched. Also, the enclosure was missing bits of carpet, and the plastic that holds the battery handle was broken!!! Seriously? Can't even believe it...

If you ask me... turning up my stereo and blowing my speaker is kind of malicious... I mean did you need to turn up the stereo to fix the bumper? Really?

  • @firebirdude2

    @firebirdude2

    7 жыл бұрын

Obviously not. But that's still not malicious. Check the definition. If they cranked it to max specifically intending to destroy it, then yes, that's malicious. Short of a hidden camera of them saying "watch me blow this up on purpose", you're never going to be able to prove that.

  • @jamieboley1180

Well "technically" it's not malicious... But it may as well be with the amount of ignorance you must posses about car stereos to do that much damage.. I mean damn.. They never intended to tell him, that's for sure..

They took that equipment out of your car and installed it in their own for a few days. That's the real reason your repair was delayed, it wasn't lightning. They wanted to joyride a few more days while bumping your shit. I'd bet money that the remote wire fragments still in the terminal is from their car, not yours.

It's civil, not criminal... If they don't just step up and take care of you (most respectable businesses will)... you would have to sue them. The cop was just trying to say there was no crime. It appeared to be an accident (maybe negligence at most). If it would have been malicious or intentional it would have been destruction of property (a crime).

So how is that an accident. They didn't just brush against it.

The actual intent of repairing his vehicle without damaging anything, isn't a malicious intent. Shit happens at mechanic shops, that's also why I don't go to them -- learn to work on your own car, and fix your own shit. Or, take your valuables out prior to service. That's a common sense. If there is absolutely no other option than a repair shop, take your shit -- all of it out. Do not give their bad apples a reason to shine and do something stupid.. However, yeah the repair shop's employee most likely fucked up, thought he knew what we was doing and fucked up. I doubt any of his intentions were , "Oh he has nice shit, let me just go right on a fuck it all up cause he's a asshole." It's more like whoever was the person touching the equipment thought he knew enough about whatever, to mess with it without approval. I assume there is more than one mechanic at the shop. Yeah everyone is pissed about it, I get it. I would be too. Logic dictates you should have known to take your aftermarket equipment out. And since Audio is on a different end of the spectrum, unlike performance mods because audio doesn't go hand in hand with body shop. With pretty much limited options, you're only option is to take your stuff out before going in. Any half-decent shop would advise it even if nothing happened on their watch, they don't want the responsibility if something happened.

Hey exo!!!! I just re-subbed to your channel. Five years ago I had my son, was a student and watching your channel was not helping my addiction to purchasing car audio stuff when I was in no position to do so. Today I was just thinking how much I missed your videos and that I needed to get subbed back in. I work graveyards as a nurse now and have a significant amount of downtime, so I will definitely be catching up on your videos. Excited to be back, definitely missed your videos. Thanks for always putting up entertaining content

Before the car was on the trailer I took out my triple 12 enclosure, and my three amplifiers. The tow truck driver said "hey you cant do that" the state trooper said "yes he can, its his stuff". I know if my system would have went to any shop in va beach it was gone. The state trooper agreed. ALWAYS TAKE YOUR SYSTEM OUT.

I feel you. Many years ago, my 1990 convertible white 5.0 mustang fox body had to be left in a body shop for a week for some repairs. The day i came to get it my stereo wouldn't turn on. i check my trunk where i had a custom box with two 12" Rockford Fosgate subs and Fosgate amp was all gone amp and all. I'm talking about this box was designed to permanently stay in the trunk as it was molded into the spare wheel area. and i got jacked. i complained to the owner and he said the cameras system wasn't working that week. and was still needing repair. so i told him, then obviously it was an employee if they knew it wasn't working so they had to take hours to pull it out. Long story short i had no proof when i filed a police report and lost it all...

Unfortunately, It's a civil case... not a criminal case. I completely agree with you that this was focked up of them to tear your stuff like that because I would be pissed too... but unfortunately, like the cop said. Law enforcement can't get involved unless... someone was caught stealing your stuff or damaged it on purpose. The owner of the body shop is at fault and he has insurance on his business, if he's the sole proprietor or is under an LLC or Inc, he would have to file a claim with his own insurance for the damages his employees did to your stuff and if he refuses to pay or gives you the run around, or stalls... at least a month after he agreed to fix it, then you can file a small claim's suit at the court clerks office in that county and get a process server to serve the body shop owner for the damages, court cost, process server, and possibly a rental car for the additional days your car now will have to be fixed again if he fights you on the repairs. Just make sure to have copy's of the cops statement, receipts for your stuff, the rental car, and the body shop invoice for the repairs that were done on on your car. Paper work is very helpful to show the Judge so he can figure out the cost of your losses and give you a ball park figure on what to rule to the defendant. Or just call Judge Judy. She'll set them strait! Lol

I always had a weary feeling when I would bring my car to a car audio shop. After that I've always done it myself. Once I had a shop just do a simple 2 front speaker install. No crossovers just a screw-in job. I removed the door panel to see what they did and I kid you not there was ONE screw. Yes ONE screw holding the speaker in. I am no pro at all and people would say my work is probably sloppy in some cases but my shit sounds good and I could care less what anyone thinks after that experience. Never again will I go to a shop.

I feel bad for you EXO but why didn't you take them out before you dropped it off? or go and remove it once the body shop was able to get the trunk opened? not all repair shop are bad, but you also have the right by law to pick the facility to complete the repairs. NEVER let the insurance company tell you where to take it.

I feel you pain brother. I have a Sundown audio zv5 15 a $700 subwoofer. I took my car in to have a new set of tires put on and a alignment done. While they were doing so I went out for some food. Came back payed my bill and started to leave. Once I was a little ways away I started to turn up my stereo and instantly heard a sound that wasn't there before. I turned around and headed back. Asked the service adviser to see the technician that worked on my car. When the tech came out I asked him about everything he had to do to change my tires and alignment. After he explained I asked him if he turned on the system ( that I had shut off prior to taking it in ) he said that he did. I explained to him that either him or the shop was gonna have to pay for the damages caused for his actions. He said that it wasn't his fault ( witch was a lie because the subwoofer output was turned off on the head unit) I explained how expensive the speaker was and that they are gonna have to do something. They went and got there manager and I explained everything to him as to what was going on. He was kind enough ( after the threat of legal action for destruction of property ) to offer me a check for the cost of the subwoofer. Now any time I take my car in for a repair that I can't do myself I remove all the fuses for the system so they have to go out of there way to hear it.

I pull all my stuff that is not bolted down every time and pull the radio out as well. I took my truck in to have a power steering pump replaced it took them 2 weeks to do it then i get it back with half my tank of gas gone and about 400 miles more on it someone took it for a joy ride. I complained about it they asked me how i knew for sure i puled out my cell and showed them a pic of the dash when i dropped it off and the pic of when i got it back. they gave me a $20 gas card and that was it.

@ 23 seconds you said thousands of dollars worth of damage from being rear ended. The scratches on your amp are probably from shifting during accident, same with your remote wire and carpet. Obviously you didnt have anything mounted to the truck.

Maybe the stuff got damaged in the wreck? its completely possible. I've seen sub boxes jacked up in accidents. Regardless, it will need to be looked at by insurance and will be an issue that the courts will have to sort out if the shop won't replace.
