Those Machine Heads do eliminate the need for fine tuners on the tailpiece and rubner makes better ones like 1/8-1/16 size bass tuners (also for 4/4 cello) which are tapered properly to avoid any modifications of the holes.

Congratulations on this sponsorship! It's always comforting to see what products and companies professionals recommend sincerely, because it's genuinely part of their work and what they are passionate about. This cello is in quite a state! I think it must have been dropped or crushed by something to have such extensive damage. If it is a customer's commission, I understand completely doing everything you can to restore it. And I also understand undertaking a challenge to bring life back to an instrument that would otherwise go to scrap. What degree of damage do you personally feel would be too much for a repair project to be worthwhile, either for a client or for yourself?

Hello Lily! Thank again for your support and kind words! You are write about the products. I prefer to partner with a producer that I also use and know that my viewers will be satisfied with the quality. I bought this cello just before Christmas from someone that had it for many years and didn't use it. I think that they didn't take care of storing it properly. Actually they didn't even have a case or bag for it. But the cracks in the sides must be older (you will see them better in the next video). Also I don't understand why one of the pegs is missing. Mostly the guideline is that the repair costs mush not be higher that 1/2 to 2/3 of the value of the instrument. But for me it is a bit different as sometimes I repair instruments that are not worth much but I want to make a video! Also it has happened that client pay expensive repairs for instruments that are not worth it but are of emotional value. Have you also been making videos? I see that you have had a lot of subscribers but no content (anymore) on your channel. Why did you stop?

@@maestrokimon It's my understanding that in addition to the actual damage, many repairs can change the sound of an instrument with added weight, glue, etc. I can certainly see sentimental value being a factor in a commission, though. I used to make videos about 10-15 years ago. My channel started out as a way to store videos I took with my friends, and then moved to travel videos, politics, and world events. I have most of my old videos still, but they are just on private, since I used to get a lot of harassment or spam from certain people. It's also why I have notifications turned off for KZread and keep up with my subscriptions manually. Now I mostly just use my channel to comment and interact, but I have considered putting videos up again at some point. My old videos are of low quality, especially with audio, but I lack a video camera (I do not have a smartphone either) or editing software. Maybe one day!

@@maestrokimon Also, as you have seen, I used to be a part of the KZread corset and textile community, and did some modelling with a few KZread friends for a corset company in the Pacific northwest. I work in specialty coffee, and I have thought that I should make videos again about my profession, since I am a green buyer/roaster and barista. :)
