Dear phononut, I have 2 of the RCA one-time wonder 45 rpm changer phonos, and in one of your videos you showed an FET preamp that could be built and added, for more gain, it is simply powered from the 25L6 cathode. I had gotten new cartridges from Voice Of Music but of course the output was a bit weak and thin. I built two of the prramps and added them to the phonos and my word do they sound great now. I even connected the little pink RCA to an Infinity Studio Monitor speaker I had just rebuilt, and was amazed at what that 25L6 could do with the proper drive! Thank you so much and I remain a forever subscriber.

Simply love your videos. These phonographs are like 50’s SciFi movies. The only reason to have or listen to one is to prove the datum “so bad it’s good”. Mcintosch and Audio Research should be quite concerned about losing market shares to technology such as this. Harmonic distortion was lowered to 96% with the advent of this model. Setting a new standard for others to _descend_ ascend to. I cannot imagine hifi can get better than this.

@themoviemaniac8416

Leno's a perfectionist, that's why. Other people restore things to what they can reasonably afford. Doesn't make them worthless (except to perfectionists). Leno would crap his pants over the way RTVP Nut drilled the plastic tonearm to accept a modern cartridge.

Nice player from "Shango066". Thankfully, you replaced it with a tonearm, because the white tonearm doesn't track well. My GE Show 'N Tell" had that with no mounting bracket and screws. But it's a great idea if I can find a busted record player that has a metal tonearm, it will fit well with the GE Show 'N Tell to avoid skipping with bass intensive records for 12" singles. I can try eBay to find a record player where I can use for parts only.

Back in 1962 we moved to town to a small rooming house. There was a kitchen/living-room combo, 1 bedroom, and on the other side of the house a second bedroom, where I slept with other folks who had beds in the large room. Not much of a place but better then the street I guess. The folks bought us a record player, my 2 sisters were in high school, I was still in the 5th grade. The player we got looked very much like that one, but it was a bit higher grade with a changer. One of those deals through Sears that came with 100 FREE records! All 45 RPM, and only a few that anyone had ever heard of. One was "Hello Mother", another "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", which my father (a 1910 model) hated with a passion, and another comic song "My little old shack in Minneapolis Minnesota.
This is the first time I've seen you do a long video sir phononut. Thank you.
Another good repair video. Always learn something new, this time in addition to the electronics, I learned that if we are ever invaded by Martians with the huge green heads to have a Mrs. Miller album ready to play. That will surely make their heads explode! :)
It looks aesthetically pleasing, the colors match up really well.
This was great. Thank You for taking the time to do it.
I can picture Shango and crew dancing in the caves. With that Mrs.Miller,priceless.
Nice to see you in such good spirits...
That tone arm looks great on that player. Great video 👍
Dammit! I had managed to forget Mrs. Miller. Now she's back in my head. What next, Tiny Tim?

That's the first record I'd buy if I owned a shop in San Francisco. It would be playing through the PA system all night. No one would be sleeping in that doorway, unless they just shot through a month's supply of black tar.

We have a ice cream /Quickie Mart chain in the Cincinnati area call United Dairy Farmers or UDF. They had issues with people hanging out and panhandling in front of their Avondale location. They did exactly what you suggested except they used real classical music 24/7. No one loitered in the parking lot or in front of the store after that!

In honor or Shango066, how about Mrs. Miller Sings Mumble Rap?
It would be funny if they had to run off additional Mrs. Miller albums to meet the demand!
Good job once again! That grey tonearm looks like factory, fitted it nicely. Kudos to Shango066 for shipping this to you, even though it was meant to be smashed in transit. LOL!
Amazingly, you got good sound out of a Crosley cartridge! Well done.
One of your top rated videos! You and Shango066 should start a comedy team. I would certainly buy tickets for the show! Take care.
Your privacy protection device is awesome ! That turntable survived the packaging exercise very well.
I enjoy your's and shango's video's I hear ya about part's nowaday's. Back in the day i used to be able to just run down to radio shack for part's and get thing's repaired the same day in most instances. But no more radio shack. nowaday's you got to order all the part's online and wait and some places you have to have a minimum order grr such a hassle getting part's nowaday's if you can get them.It seem's now everything is made to be thrown away not be repaired and people don't want to pay anything for all your time knowledge and effort to repair their stuff what a sad throwaway world.

That UL sticker on the top door of that phono held on all the way from California! It was about half off when he had it, and it made the trip!
That symphonic record player is nice it has a very cool front and color scheme
Those record players are charming.
I enjoyed that hour-long video, I watched every minute of it. I like what you did with the metal tonearm, it fits the record player perfectly. And I agree that it works well enough as-is, I wouldn't do anything else to it either.
Can you imagine buying a Mrs. Miller record to seriously listen to it? I can't...

Yeah, ALL vintage stuff SHOULD be DOUBLE-boxed with packing material between the 2 boxes! I ALWAYS REQUEST double-boxing when I buy on E-bay.OH MY GAWD! You got a Mrs. Miller record! My "friend" that sold all my stuff used to dress up in drag for a joke & perform her songs all the time at a local Bar & it was hilarious!!! He always sang "Lets Hang On" by Mrs. Miller. I have the album & on it she covers the 4 seasons, the Beatles, Nancy Sinatra, and several others! @ 48:45...ANOTHER GREAT JOB restoring that Beam! It sounds better with the tone all the way to the "Bass" side, though, LOL! @ 51:00...That arm & cartridge looks & sounds a LOT better anyways! That Symphonic from Shango's DEFINITELY a keeper! It really turned out nice & yeah, I like the look of it, too!

Arm matches the turntable perfectly.
surprised how well it made it to you.
I can't believe this arrived in one piece (more or less - tube excepted). The last major item I received had broken through the box (and was damaged, of course.) Your and Shango's Post Offices must be gentle. (Never mind the ones between...)
I'm actually surprised the unit arrived in such good shape!
I guess this record player survived the "sort of" EOL road trip.
That woman singing Just killed my brain.
lol. Hilarious! Love your sense of humor
That tonearm matches the platter &the Speed Controll knob & plate
Many more years Like this vintage record
Interesting to see that it survived the shipping that well. I would've expected it to be busted way worse than just a couple of dings and that busted tube...
Jay Leno said to his mechanic. Is it my imagination that we have to completely rebuild everything I buy that has been "restored"? His mechanic said. Its true all the restorations we get are worthless.
@themoviemaniac8416

Leno's a perfectionist, that's why. Other people restore things to what they can reasonably afford. Doesn't make them worthless (except to perfectionists). Leno would crap his pants over the way RTVP Nut drilled the plastic tonearm to accept a modern cartridge.
Hello Bryan. I was wondering if you have the schematic for the preamp you built at 40:15 or know where I could find it. I have a mid 50s Truetone two tube suitcase that I’ve replaced the dead 3v crystal cartridge with a lower output modern cart. Thank you.
To tell the truth I wouldn't mind finding that orange LP rockin that Pokey song, it's a pretty smooth jam.
Don't feel bad I've got a newer that I call a 1980s BSR changer with the that stylus that the cartrage likes to crack and fall out I've got its got stotchtaped in and it works fine. I have a very old philco 78 only and The Stylus and the cartridge on it are made together very heavy duty can't wait to see if it works
Country crock privacy protection dee- vice! $19.95!! Very good! 😆 Come for the comedy, stay for the repair!

What if she would have done an album "Mrs Miller sings Motown". That would be one hilarious album 😂😂. Can you imagine her singing "ain't too proud to beg"🤣🤣🤣🤣
Came up well
Although I never heard of Mrs. Miller before this thread, that record actually may be worth something, just for the novelty of it.

Funny the things you remember when you are a kid. kzread.info/dash/bejne/emqNtKaDZ5SxY5M.html Thanks for the memories! 73's KE0JBL

Just kidding! It’s just the song called “Pokey Little Puppy” by the Sandpipers with Mitch Miller and his Golden Orchestra from the 1950’s. Based off the Little Golden Book of the same name. I found the entire song here. It’s kinda short, but it runs a minute in a half. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqOdrsGskburY9o.html

if these two ever make a vid its going to be one of those really good vids, having two dead pan hunmoest's (that might be a word you tell me) and there views on this man it could become the best debate ever, it might go like this; here we have a 1955 geneal eletrics radio, which is in beat up condiotion, says radionut, well its in better shape then the stuff you buy from ebay, at least my stuff i know its no good as i got it from a desert or its been outside baking for years. 066 guy true, but at least we can agree that this is better then a cruiser huh? oh my yes this thing even if it smashed up and has bad cap silver mica and has bad tubes it'll sound better then a cruiser

78 microgroove should be pretty high fidelity. I know the Beach Boys released one of their hits on 78 microgroove. I should think they would be the best sounding of any record and probably better than CD or reel to reel. That's almost double the speed of a 45 and well over double that of a 33.3
You sound remarkably like my grand father.🙈
