Great rant and you are so right. The stupidity about all of this is that some these old songs will get completely forgotten about. Even a 30 seconds run may inspire someone to buy the album or audio track.

Great Video. We tape recorder restorers run into the same Content ID situation a lot too. KZread made a deal with certain record companies that dictates how their Content ID works. They are actually in violation of the spirit of copyright law because they do not allow for Fair Use. But companies like WMG don't care. The ironic thing is that WMG probably didn't produce or have anything to do with the original pressing, and they may not even be selling anything that has the song on it. They may just have bought the rights to the song, buried it anyway, yet that is enough for them to cry foul! It's a really corrupt system. The systerm needs a major overhaul, but it is doubtful that it will ever happen. The ones who suffer most are the audience who are trying to learn. You spend a lot of time explaining things, and then cannot prove what you have taught. Still, you do a good job.

The RCA record player sounds good. Good call on the transplanted motor shaft.

Phononut, I have never fixed any phonograph, ever. Radios, TVs, Tape Players, sure. I have learned a lot from you fixing record players. This is a great thing you do here. I hope you keep it up for a long time to come. As for WMG, damn those guys need to lighten up a little. I don't guess if you put a disclaimer that you are using the material for teaching purposes at the beginning of the video it would make any difference. Love the vids,

Interesting video as usual! Neat idea using a decade box to test if gain was improved on the amp. "Soul finger" is a great song and i do enjoy your music selections. Maybe WMG would be happier hearing "Surfin' Bird" lol

I appreciate your videos, and I believe that people that share my interest know that you are only using music selections for demonstration purposes , but unfortunately there aren't real filters that can't block true offenders from people that are considerate enough to share their knowledge about these vintage electronics in which you do. Thanks for being careful and keep up the videos.

I'm surprised the Madonna record didn't skip on this because Vogue is very bass heavy.

Nice rant on the WMG scandal. I would be very careful if UMG owns all of the entire Disney music library including the Disneyland Records and Buena Vista ones including Annette Funicello, it might be UMG, for example "Tall Paul", that might be a good song, but UMG owns the song and blocked in Germany only, not in the US, except here which might be a big problem. UMG owns all of the Disney movie soundtracks including "Cinderella", the animated version from 1950, but I saw the live action one with Lilly James about two weeks ago. Just to be sure that UMG controls the Disney music including movie soundtracks and theme park music such as music from Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Be very careful if UMG will claim any Disney music, it will be blocked or ends up with a copyright strike.

I love your videos! I have a question though: Are you collecting all these antiques or repairing them for other people? If all this is in your personal collection I'd love to stroll through your house!
