Too bad you didn't go through the penguin classics you got rid of. That were the books I was most interested in.

Highly recommend giving Tristram Shandy a read. It is a comedy and it is hilarious. Sterne was about 200 years ahead of his time. It stands out as an anomaly amongst 18th century lit imo.

You should read all of Amor Towles, he's absolutely brilliant and I'm torn by which is my favourite. Only yesterday my friend who's just read 'The Lincoln Highway' after my recommendation, was saying how much she liked it and how she wished she'd got a hard copy (she listened to the audio).

We have a newer Penguin of Asser’s Alfred the Great. It is prior to their newest overhaul with the wider white on the spines but it is newer than your copy.

Loved the overview of the bottom shelf books! I would be curious to know more about your enthusiasm for Guy Gavriel Kay novels: what do you like/recommend and why.🧡

I've done more unhauling & reorganizing over the last month than reading lol & i have alot of these & was just deliberating my Nancy Goldstone hardbacks (i've only read one- Rival Queens) which i did enjoy. Glad you're keeping A POGreater Safety & i look fwd to reading Lancelot & the second GGKay installment. I guess there's no hope for Les Mis & A Karenina at this stage lol..(ive still yet to give them a try)😅 😉🤓💕

I really just didn't like the older translations of Les Mis and Anna K (though I enjoyed Anna K at the time). it feels so good to reorganize!

I have that exact copy of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I really enjoyed Interview with a Vampire. Vampire Lestat was ok. Queen of the Damned-awful. The Mummy by Anne Rice was pretty good. Also A Dowry Of Blood was a 2 stars for me. I attempted reading it 3 times before I was able to push through. I’m still glad I finished it but I was very disappointed. It was a missed opportunity for the author to not explain why Dracula was the way he was…like go into his history more. For such a short book it felt like it dragged on and on.
