Thanks for the comprehensive walkthrough, it's made my mind up to switch to Reolink. I have seen about playback speed, seems like you missed that icon. A question, is it possible to configure the motion detection / alarm pre-record time, or how.do.you assess the performance? One gripe I have with my current camera is I partially miss what has triggered the alarm. A 3-second pre record would fix this! Thanks again.

Thank you for this informative video. I just received my new Reolink GO Plus LTE camera. This LTE feature is a real game changer and they upgraded the firmware and app so that when you go to view your recorded clips you now have an actual image thumbnail so that you won't waste data sifting through non-critical clips. However, I am very surprised to see that this newest of their camera line does not have the Motion Zone feature where you can draw areas that won't trigger the recording. You explained this feature nicely in your video but it appears that this feature is not available to all of their cameras (like this one) which is disappointing. Do you have any thoughts on this or know of any way to get around this?

Great demo for smartphone functionality. I didn't fully get the implications of the streaming settings to impact of what is downloaded to the SD Card on the phone. I'm fine with filling most of the card, but concerned about data usage as it's billed to my phone carrier (AT&T). Can you comment on that impact as I don't have unlimited plan? Considerations as to optimal alerts and what is automatically downloaded would help. Thanks!

I’ve used 3 since I made this video and they’ve been great. Regular app and software updates. It makes all the difference.

@TDCatTech Hi ! I am having problem in editing/modifying alarm settings ;once i selected a day (lets say Saturday ) I cant undo it .No matter how I tried the setting remains same. I have to disable notification and emails to not to get annoyed .Isn't there any way that you can undo/edit the day and time you choose in your alarm/alert settings. I'm using the same camera model as you. Thanks

@@tdcattech Received and installed my new cameras. Not bad so far. The motion detector zones on the wireless wifi cameras are not as sensitive as the wired wifi camera. Also, the app for Android does not have all of the features as the iOS app. Does not have the paintable zones to ignore, no ftp option, no clip feature or ptz.

Can you still access live video of the cameras on the app if they are PoE?

Great video. But in the playback section, there are icons in the top right, person, car and 1 other. What is this icon detailing?

Good explanation about the possibilities of this camera. Unfortunately, I miss an instruction how the clips that the camera makes and only last 5 minutes can be scaled up in time.

Hope it was helpful. The app has changed since this was made but not significantly.

I bought a 510a w/o wifi since for offgrid install. My client is Chromebook (Samsung 4) running android 9. The Reolink app has a major issue, I can't see playback features. Tried adjusting screen sizes/defaults. Chromebook gets no love. When I attempt to access the camera via web browser http (even with :9000) on Chromebook I get connection refused.

How do you put wifi into the computer in order to connect with the app? When I scan the QR code and try to put into The IP address. I also tried to put the UID password, but it kept saying the connection failed. How do you fix it and how to put wifi Into the computer?

Is there an option to view the stream over cellular other than setting up an FTP server?

Do you know if there is a way to turn the mic on the cam up higher for IOS devices? It sounds super quiet when you're listening from the app.You cant hear anything hardly even when the volume is turned up higher on ur device. Literally have to talk INTO the mic/camera face for it to be loud on the app.

Hey mate, looking at grabbing a few of these for the kids rooms. Is the app capable of pumping out audio from multiple feeds? Would be handy to hear without having to tune into a singular feed (unlike most wifi based baby monitors these days). Great video as well! Cheers

No. This is not possible. You can view the multiple streams at one time but the audio is played from the 'selected' stream, meaning the one you last tapped on. The same is true for the desktop app (8.3.1 at time of writing).

14:30 while you are browsing and looking at footage and zooming into live lower resolution streams; is the unit still recording in HD while you are poking around inside the unit?

Yes. This never stops regardless of what you’re viewing or playing back.

Bit of a hard question, what if I wanted to record someone’s “experience” at my event, how would I go about downloading a few clips from different angles? So that I can cut them together to make one cool looking video? I have the reolink 800b NVR cameras…..I believe I would have to download 30 seconds from each specific camera angle? Any thoughts? Thank you so much!

Is there a alarm on your phone when email arrives notifying you that a thief is oresant if it doesn’t notify you with alarm. It seems the camera useless as you would have to be watching the the dam screen 24 /7. = ridicules so what is it please ???

Was also looking at Reolink cameras. Is there an option to set the alarm and notifications off when home, and then turn them all one when everyone is way? Like a 'Home', or 'Away' profile?

Yes. They have ‘Scene Modes’ which control the notification setting for whichever cameras you choose so you can set an Away profile which enables alarm and push notifications when you’re out. 🚨

I accidentally deleted the app from my home screen. The App Store now will let me open through the App Store but I can’t get it back on my Home Screen. Will you tell me how to do that ?

I don’t believe you can remove individual vids from the SD without… 1. Formatting the whole card in the app. 2. Removing the card and finding the clip on a computer and deleting it there.

Does anyone know if Reolink push notifications provide a clip of the motion detected? (Like nest, arlo, ring, etc.)

Yes. The email notification content can contain Text, Picture, Text with Picture or Text with Video.

Yes. Cloud storage is an optional extra. Accessing the camera does not require any kind of subscription. If you want this for security, offsite storage is recommended but it's not required.

Does it automatically reformat the memory card when it is full?

It just purges the oldest files and saves the newest. So it fills up and is then effectively always full.

Could you please tell me how I can send a Reolink video via the whatsapp? At the moment I'm juist getting error messages that it can't send the video and that I should try another video. I tried very short videos & tried sending several times but it didn't help. My friend is getting the same messages. I have a Galaxy Note10+ telephone, but he has another telephone. Your advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

I can't speak for Android but on iOS it's super simple. Just record the clip you want (using the video camera icon). This gets saved to the Camera Roll on an iPhone and then just share in WhatsApp like any other clip. WhatsApp will re-encode it into another resolution or bitrate for compact transfer but it should work fine. The problem is, I imagine this is exactly what you're doing so it probably won't help!

You can pause the stream in the app and just access the settings using the pause button ⏸ at the bottom left of the camera display. This will stop your data usage. It won’t actually stop the stream of the camera for others though so the camera is still ‘live’, as it were.

My app asks for a username and password for the device and says I’m entering the wrong information even thought I’m logged into the app and putting in my username and password I use for the app

If you want to store images or video in the Reolink cloud, you need a subscription. Everything else discussed is standard on the iOS app. Personally, I FTP directly from the camera to my NAS which then immediately backs up to the cloud so I don't need their cloud solution.

Can you please advise if you can set push notifications settings individually on each camera? i.e. set push notifications to ‘on’ for the ‘driveway’ camera, set push notifications to ‘off’ for the garden camera. Regardless if the push notifications were on or off, the motion detection would still show up on the timeline when scanning through? Thanks for the in depth video. I’m just researching which system to buy based on hardware + software interface, so this is very helpful.

Yes. Push notifications are at camera level so they can be off in one and enabled in another. This is separate from motion detection which can still be logged regardless of that setting and you can then filter your playback by ‘Alarm Videos’ only.

Where is 24/7 record playback it only says enabled for trigger motion

Right! I had something drop on the floor & break but it does not show what happened. It didn't record. Don't make sense.. 🤦

reolink 2 failed to capture the picture : 1.1.2021 taking photo and video is not showing anymore... Impossible to watch last year s video... Formated the SD card doesn't change... Impossible to use anymore... Reset the whole camera = same issue... Last update of the app and camera firmware... Do I have to throw everything away after 6 months of use of Reolink?

@@MrJann5089 contact the support, they got a problem with the last update. They will provide you the APK and you can install it and it s working perfect. They tried to replace it on the Google Play store after my contact but still need more tests probably.

Ive just purchased this camera online but wish id watched this beforehand, maybe i will send it back un-opened. Im not happy that you can only download a 30 second clips... at the moment i have a ezviz camera & that will let you take a recording for as long as i wish then download it to my phone once i press stop recording.. Is it not possible to remove the SD card & copy the full footage from off there onto the pc. or did i read somewhere that you can use web browser to view the footage, can you not download the whole footage from there.? I dont want to open this & then find out 30 seconds is all i can download.. thanks for any advice.. great clip..

How good is the motion detection?

As these cameras are designed for indoor use, it's good enough and works well. There's no smart detection on the E1 Zoom (which I am using in this video) so the motion detection does not try to distiguish between people, vehicles and other motion. You don't really need it on these though in most cases.

Up to 12 but only 2 on the ‘Clear’ stream (so the full quality). The other 10 have be set to ‘Fluent’. Fluent is easily good enough to see what’s happening though so it works.

I'm not 100% sure. The website states 64GB but I'm using a 128GB card in mine and it recognises it and works fine.

Sorry David. I thought you were talking about the E1 Zoom camera. The battery cameras vary but the latest Argus 3 Pro can definitely support 128GB (as per the specs). If you're talking about a battery camera, they *do not* support continuous recording so it's impossible to say how long you'll get as it entirely depends on the number of alerts. As for the splitter, I doubt this would be possible due to the power requirements. A small solar panel would simply not be able to support the charging of two devices.

8:51 why.. Just why did you skip this part. We want to know if the email alert also attached a 15sec video to the email. We are looking into possibility of trello integration via email to board. Also its a bit disappointing that it has nit hotspot feature.

Yes. You have the option of what to attach (message, pic & message or video and message) and it is attached as an MP4 file (not zipped). I have just tried this out for you on one of my cams.

I don't understand it .if a burglar trickers the camera but decide to rip the camera off and destroys it than we have a problem. Then there is no evidence anymore. Why do security cameras not download to a phone or another second sd card in a save place straight away? Then you will be never without evidence. does anybody knows if there are cameras that have that feature?

You're right. Onboard SD card is risky and is not really a good solution. Most cameras will either upload footage to a cloud service or, most professional solutions would use some form of NVR (network video recorder) to record event footage or 24 hour footage to multiple hard drives. A lot of Reolink cameras support both these options.

Jesus Christ - the Siren feature is now called 'buzzer' there is zero HINT as to what this is until i saw your vide. I really do give an 'F' to the interface designers of this app. The whole buzzer section is 3 words: "Buzzer", "buzzer", "Enable Buzzer"....dude...how about ONE sentence telling me what buzzer is !!??
