Great video, love the stuff on the balcony. Neighbors getting nervous that CIA lives next door. I will look into these cameras thanks for the great review.

Thanks for the video. I'm definitely going to buy a Reolink as my next camera. Primarily because it does not need a proprietary app or software. Love the web interface to configure.

I thought it was 180 now? U talking about duo or duo 2? 2 is the latest. Think it fixes gripes…

Duo. That’s why I said Duo. The duo 2 wasn’t out while I was recording the majority of this.

@@MillerTechnicalServices Yeah, the Duo 2 stitches them together, so this review is kinda outdated even though you just posted it. To be clear, it's an excellent video, but technology just moves too fast.

IF you buy two cams instead you have some redundancy if something fails, besides it's cheaper. I use RLC510A for about $50 ea. Do NOT use the SD card slot - IF one damages or steals the cam ALL your recordings are gone, too. The NVR has to be hidden, locked up, and have a UPS anyways.

In what scenario where things are setup right would you have an issue of someone stealing your camera?! What do you just leave them sitting on a table outside your door or mounded at head level?!

@@MillerTechnicalServices You find a ton of YT clips where criminals use chairs or climb walls, swing baseball bats, use spraypaint etc to either blind the camera or just knock it off the wall - or you have squirrels or birds mess with it, even if you mount it 10ft up high. Depends on what you are guarding, if its your pets it won't matter (edit-it does, but on a different level). I installed many cams guarding merch and pulled video for law enforcers & employers, there you have to always think redundancy, simplicity, vandal & critter proof etc

My question is why are security cameras so far behind and technology from regular cameras I can get a GoPro camera smaller than the real link camera that's 23 megapixels so why can't they make a security camera 23 megapixels

I totally hear you on the idea but there are a few reasons why. 1. Camera manufacturers like GoPro put way more rnd budget into their cameras to make them so good in terms of software processing because they have the customer base to support that investment whereas security cameras have an order of magnitude smaller volume of customers. 2. The Duo is 2 cameras and an encoder board for ~$100 whereas the GoPros are usually ~$400. The higher price and larger customer base is why GoPro can make such a better camera. And the $40 GoPros on eBay aren’t $40 cameras. They’re old $400 cameras. There’s a big difference. 3. Intended use. GoPros are (for the most part) only recording for a short portion of their lifespan whereas a security camera is recorded much more often and sometimes continuously. This eats up storage space quickly so they turn the bitrate down to save space. No reason to put a 23mp sensor in a camera that’s only pumping out 8MBps because the majority of that data will be lost. My dslr is 24mp and each image off it is 27MB. 27MB x 5fps x 86400 seconds in a day = ~11 terabytes per day. Multiply that by 4 cameras times 30 days of archive history and now you need a petabyte of storage and most people don’t want to spend $32,000 on hard drives plus the cost of the server itself to store the footage. Enter the medium range ip camera that only takes up ~90Gb per day. Hope that helps!

@@MillerTechnicalServices yeah I guess I didn't think about it in the terms of how much hard drive space that would take

Don't bother with DUO. I got both DUO and DUO2. DUO2 is so much better and it is the camera to get. DUO2 is 4K resolution with big stitched image. The experience is no comparison. My DUO goes to recycle bin. :)
