Love the Cargo van! Up until my last shoot, I’ve just piled up everything in my Pickup and drove up to NYC - unloaded, parked in NJ, then went back to get the Truck while the crew struck and packed up… the main risk was RAIN 🌧️ so I tried a Cargo van in my last shoot and it was a DREAM! Not only did I roll over and went back to sleep the night before (when it started to rain) but it was a much easier unload/reload and I could park in a City Lot ($70) which cut two hours off travel time! Will only use a van from now own!
I rent more gear than I own. I trust my assistant but on bigger jobs I prefer renting. Great video. Nice to see you trust others with your gear

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate you watching! With insurance, I don't mind renting to others.

It's hard to trust random people with your gear that you've so carefully accumulated.

This is true! I struggled with this at first but after getting a good insurance policy I feel much better about it.
Facing the same issues with renting out my van package.

Absolutely! I will do a video on it soon for sure. I would definitely recommend it.
That’s literally my business idea as well. But yeah the market in these parts are a little different. Gear just doesn’t get rented much.

Exactly! Even in Little Rock I don't get much rentals. It's mostly people coming in from out of state looking for a camera package or something. Doing something like this will get my gear rented more. I have another student film i'm working on Friday. Even if I can get one a month or something it might be worth it. Thanks for watching bro! I have been enjoying all the videos you have been posting. Great stuff!!
Great to see you posting again! I love the tips you share with us! 🎉

Thanks so much! 😊 I appreciate you watching!
Of course I have Equipment/Event Insurance on my gear - and I have just enuff to shoot what I shoot a few times a year - but I think I would have to add a renter’s coverage to my policy… even with that - doesn’t there need to be some legal template the renter signs that makes them liable for loss or damage? The times I looked at renting from Adorama… the INSURANCE binder exceeded the cost of renting in the Sony FX3 ecosystem!
This is like me man! I didn't post for a little over month. April and May where just jammed pack! Good stuff, glad to see you back at it!

I appreciate it bro! It is a struggle for sure to post consistently when you're super busy. I have a hard time staying on top of it. Glad to be back. Thanks for watching!
An arri classic or amira is MORE than enough for smaller stuff. The fx cameras are good if they NEED current cameras.

@@JoelGabrielsen Theres a channel on here called fox tail whipz that has a great little series on getting an old alexa doing some small repairs and getting it working.
LA is over saturated with cameras, G&E, and audio equipment. I think you have a good idea but I'd add myself on as a grip with 1/2 or 1 ton G&E package.

How is the Hollyland video / iPad (?) wireless monitor link work . I guess direct sight should be fine , but what if dir is in another room . Any feed back appreciated .I have a rather aging Teradek , / Dir monitor cage , set up . But is another pelican case , and Batts for the monitor. Thanks

It works really well! It's wifi based to the iPad so the signal is limited. Line of sight works best but if it's close by in another room I have not had issues. Just if you try going outside the signal will drop pretty fast.

Why using a dead cat indoors
@JoelGabrielsen

Im not entirely sure! I was not running audio on this shoot. The full dead cat is defiantly overkill indoors. Thanks for watching!
Word to the Wise (my day-job is IT in the financial industry) I would wait for the Economic Zombie Apocalypse ie after the election (regardless who ‘wins’) and see what happens when the Fed raises interest rates to double-digit to get some control over inflation… By next Spring (2025) which should get some clear idea on the impact and you don’t wanna be strung out on debt with equipment nobody is renting because all grants are gone and funding for commercial video dries up!
