In Nigeria, we only got the first three series with the original three ghosts. The show was really popular there.

My goodness, I watched this as a kid in the late seventies, almost forty years ago.

My fave programme as a young lad.

Loved this after school in the 70s....on my Grandmother's black and white TV, that had a 10 pence box on the back, else it wouldn't work....

Agree. It changed completely and I stopped watching it as a result - and it also came to annoy me when I did catch it.

Funnily enough, I commented this just yesterday on another video. TOTALLY agree. It got silly, in the wrong way. Mumford was real and believable.

It got more pantomime when Mumford and Davenport left. But that wasn’t a bad thing . I remember the later series more due to my age tbh. I loved 🥰 Mc Witch , Dobbin and Ms popoff but I was very young at the time and thought a flying teleporting Horse was hilarious. Also Molly Weir lived in Pinner where I grew up. She used to shop in Safeways where my mum used to work.

Strange but true fact - Nirvana did a song called 'Mollys lips' which was a cover of a song by Scottish band 'The Vaselines'. They wrote the song as a tribute to Scottish actress Molly Weir, who played Hazel McWitch.

S01 - S04 was good stuff. Once Dobbin became a permanent member of the cast it became instantly forgettable.

44years old today watching my heroes of my childhood this was one of my favourite things to watch I think 💭 was Good then and even now it doesn’t make me cringe when I watch it unlike some of the stuff we watched back then ...suchlike Jim will bloody fix it thought he was creepy then too

the first season was the best. The guy in the green jacket( mumford) whose mum didn't know he was dead, was quite a cool theme. It then got a bit too silly in later episodes, but it was a bit manic and I liked that

I loved this programme. This was rarely on TV and I used to enjoy the episodes, where Miss Popov and Dobbin would make appearances. Timothy Claypole was just so charming though.

Where is the rest of it???

Used to grate on me as a kid. Perhaps I just didn't understand it, but I like how Jeremy kept the actors feet firmly on the ground. I may have to watch some episodes to see how I feel now at 49!

I remember it just made me feel uncomfortable somehow... normally any ghost story would have me hypnotised... Not scared or grossed out or anything.... just ... uncomfortable?

Even as kids, we knew this show was nothing but a lot of silly nonsense akin to how pantomimes played out, but the entertainment value was there. As the series continued, though, it did become somewhat tiresome, especially with some of the newer characters who were, let's say, somewhat one dimensional. It became quite infantilising to watch toward the end of it's run. Mind you, going into my teenage years by then may have had something to do with it.

One of the best theme tunes, quickly followed by the crap show it was, which was such a waste of a great premise.

Bob Blocks comedies were as funny as bubonic piles. RENTAGHOST WAS UTTER SHITE !
