I worry too about that especially if there's asbestos. When disturbed, tiny abrasive asbestos fibers are easily inhaled, which damages lung tissue and can cause cancer. Maybe I am just being a worrywart?

@@Elizabeth-aka-PippiI think it was checked but the house is not that old, Vika mentioned at some point. By the time the house was built I don’t think people used asbestos anymore. Plus, in different countries, people use different construction materials. For exemple, I was surprised to hear that people from America don’t know what aerocrete is, it’s not really used there but very popular here.

Agree...made comment before that the lads have worked hard but the building practices wouldnt pass building code in too many places and the electrical work is also not up to normal standards but I guess inspections are probably not too common in that part of the world and I just hope the family are safe in the house once completed.

They don't show or record everything, so I hope they did enough research and don't just go by logic and YT videos. I am also aware that in many countries they don't have high standards regarding these things, but it can be dangerous if planned wrong. For example, plugs in bathrooms or cables behind a thin plaster. I'm also worried about asbestos, as many older buildings have that, and it can cause real health damage; Tolya and everyone should definitely wear a mask, as it's been said here many times, because even with just dust, lung problems are very common.

I have good memories of growing up in a home that was built with the help of friends, relatives and most of my parent’s church. I remember my grandfather, father and uncle cutting down trees after they decided where the house would be built. Many of those trees went to the lumberyard to be cut into the right size and length of boards for building. The branches became firewood which kept us warm for a long time. We were busy planting our orchard and pine trees, before the house was built. On long evenings after work and on weekends, people would come over to help. Those who didn’t know what to do were taught by the older and more experienced people. It took a long time, and the first winter we lived in the basement, but we had running water and electricity. The next year the above ground part of the house was finished. I remember being old enough to learn how to hammer nails, and be my dad‘s helper when he wired the house. It helped that we had relatives who did various work such as home construction, make heating ductwork, installing vents and furnaces, plumbing etc. It was very interesting to watch the process, as a young child! I was especially fascinated by the plumbing and bricklaying, and got to help with simple things. 5 of my grandparents were also very involved, so we made many wonderful memories. I still remember watching both of my grandfathers work on the rustic beam mantle that went over the fireplace. It’s amazing to still see the marks they put in the wood, so many decades ago, long after they are both gone! I’m very thankful your husband has a friend to help- Many hands make light work! I pray your daughters will have good memories of growing up in this house. If they can keep up this piece of work, it looks like it won’t be too long before you can move in! 💙🙏🏽🌻🏡👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

Tolya really should think about wearing some sort of mask when ripping out that old plaster. I'm in the United States, so I don't know what kinds of things were used in the past when making plaster in other parts of the world, but it could contain dangerous materials (like asbestos as binding agent) that you certainly don't want to breathe. Love your videos! Hope you're all staying safe and healthy!

This is the way houses were built back in rural areas during the pioneer days before building codes and professional this and that. Often neighbours would come and help with the work in between their cow milking & other farm chores. There were also barn raisings accomplished in the same way. The Amish & Mennonites were very talented at doing those. My late dad’s brick two story farm house was constructed much the same way with changes made over the years to upgrade it to modern needs. Building codes became important later on because of shyster builders who just did construction to grab money from the owners and didn’t care about the safety factors. Hope this will work out for this lovely family and they will be able to stay there until a better opportunity comes along. I can’t imagine having to pull up stakes and move because of the actions of one’s Country’s leadership and having to move around until another more permanent home situation can be found. Bravo to this loving family. Prayers for their safety. 💖💖💖💖

Wow, hello dear friends, Vika & Tolya! I am so excited about your house and land. On camera the rooms look large. It is so nice of Paul, to help Tolya, with the house renovation. While the yard work was being done, I imagined a nice vegetable garden, play area for the girls, and BBQ/ sitting area to enjoy the outdoors! So many possibilities. I enjoy watching the repairs and can only imagine the day when your family will live in your new house. How exciting to remodel your house to your liking. You both have such great work ethics, nice family, and am praying God, to safeguard your health. Seems like there is always something to attend to in everyday life. You both are young, hard workers and with a young family. Please remember to take time to relax together when you can. Ty for continuing to share peeks into your life. Continuing to lift all your needs to God and asking Him to bless and protect you. Sending ❤❤❤❤and hugs to all. Love, your American friend, CarrieJo/North Carolina/USA😊

I love your videos as they give first person point of view of different parts of the world - it's so interesting to discover new things with you and your family! However, as admirable as Toyla's hard work is, seeing him work without proper safety equipment is really worriesome. The shot of him taking away a brick while a drill was still going through the wall was an injury waiting to happen. Beyond youtube tutorials, I hope you're following any building codes and safety regulations in place. Trying to look out for you!

One day your daughters will watch these videos and feel unbelievably proud of their parents! I love the terazzo floors and hope you keep them. Replastering will be very labor-intensive so I hope he can enlist a lot of help. In the end, I really hope it will be a wonderful place to grow and raise your little family. I hope the locals are welcoming and you can find friends and community there. Maybe other Russian families will move nearby and you can repopulate the village :) I wish you all the best!

With a little help of a friend. (I think there is a song like that) The thing they used when mixing the cement - we use the same gadget to keep the dough the same at our church bazaars when baking pancakes. This is the one item people buy in dozens, there are usually lots of people standing in line. One of the men built an iron frame for 7 people to bake at a time - all using the same big gas bottle. Each person has a task. The one keep the bowls with the pancake mixture full. Another person collect the baked pancakes and two people sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon, two people stand on the other side and roll the hot pancakes to fill the polystyrene trays with the number of tickets the people bought. I love it! The sugar and cinnamon is too little for me. Back to your house. It's going to look beautiful! And yes, KZread have tutorials for anything - from building to embroidery. I always look out for a new video of you. Hope you and 'my' two loving girls are doing fine. 🥰🥰 With love ❤ from South Africa

You need an Amazon wish list link so I can send them protective eyewear! 😂 I got so nervous when they took the walls down and used hammer for water pipes. (But then remembered had anything happened you wouldn’t be posting a video lol)

He is really learning so many skills. He will either love this and it is the start of a new career....or he will never do this ever again. ;-)

Not only is this hard, back-breaking work, the fact that they know what they are doing blows my mind. How and where did they learn how to do this type of work? My brother can’t even put a nail in the wall to hang a picture! I guess it’s a God-given talent. I just don’t know! ☺️

I have absolutely no clue about construction and I am soooo amazed with these video series! I can't even imagine what I would do in their place, I wouldn't have a clue about what comes first: water? electricity? walls? where do I start? This is amazing to see and a complete inspiration!! I can't wait to see how it turns out!! All the praise to you both for doing this :D
