Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Second video of the renovation of my little stone cabin in the French Mountain.
Thanks to all who have been watching the first video, I was really not expecting so many people.
I tried to follow some advices, but I'm still learning.
You can find me, maybe see a few more content as I post stories when I'm working there, and ask your questions on instagram at @kevdaud

Thank you. I'll probably do a special video where I talk a little, answer a few questions that come often and do a little walk around the land but I'll keep the videos where i work like this.
I love seeing so many young and older people doing this. Making a home for themselves. So many are not able too. If i could have my way id do things very differently than what i allowed life to hand me. You're doing a beautiful job!
What a beautiful place... I just love the cozy cottage. Awesome job, I'm here for the journey. Thank you for sharing. 😍

It's always a good design decision to have a moisture barrier between the earth and your finished floor. Moisture will 'wick' up through a concrete floor. Run it up the walls the distance that you imagine the thickness of the concrete slab.
Gonna be awesome 👍 you got a new sub 😃

Hi Kev, it’s really nice what you’re doing. Some of us dream of it. You’re lucky. Some of us like me, we would like to watch you renovate your house and understand your thoughts. May be you can slow down a bit or maybe you can edit your videos in a way which does show everything in fast forward mode. Indeed it would be great if we can understand your thoughts and plans before your proceed on renovation. Good luck 🍀

Thanks a lot. I Dont know if we can call that a composition, But yes it just come from my head. I have to improve on this
Great video! I am probably too late but, have you considered getting a mattress and bed frame, suitably wrapped, through the 'ceiling' on to the first floor, as you may have issues getting large pieces of furniture up the twist in the stair. I live in a 250 year old cottage, with only a three stair twist at the bottom of the staircase, but had to turn a Victorian iron bed frame into garden furniture and even an extra firm mattress can be difficult to bend?
@kevdaud
Жыл бұрын
Hello, that's a damn good point. I thought a lot about this. I did not planed to get things up earlier because i'm a man who likes to go full improvisation. So I dont really know what i'm going to do upstairs but i plan to build the bed so i'll have to bring the furnitures and i have the 2 small Windows fo this, and I also plan to add a bigger one in the roof to have a beautiful view of the mountains in my bed so i think it's gonna be ok like this.

Memory foam mattress left all rolled up until they are up stairs is the answer for getting at least a mattress of the size you want.

Are sure that its ok сutting the importing part of house(that part of the big beam you cut off)? I don't understand much in building construction but is it will be safe enough without it?
@kevdaud
Жыл бұрын
Yep its ok for this one since it was there only to hold the floor which is not here anymore
Do you have building inspectors and codes that must be followed. Great videos.

I see you have cut the beam to do the new stair, it is a problem for the roof support / structure ? I enjoy your video because there is no chatting for hours just good music and action 🤩
@kevdaud
Жыл бұрын
Hello, no it's not important because the roof is on 3 others beams in other direction. Those one are only for the floor which is not there anymore and it has no effects on the wall which stand by themself

You’re getting a lot done. Question, why did you decide to remove and move the location of the stairs? They look a little narrow now, how will you get furniture up there?
@kevdaud
Жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I tryed to draw a lot of plans for the house, first with the original stairs, then with New stair at the same positions but with the bottom fully accessible, and then with the stairs at this place. It was the best compromise for being able to do everything that i want in the house in the differents room. I know it's a little narrow and steep but the thing is you only go upstairs to sleep so you spend the most time downstairs so it seems to me it wasnt a big problem. Maybe the time will make me change my mind

It was word of mouth. I was looking for something to buy, I failed twice on different projec. The first after we agree with the sailer, the town decided they wanted to buy it before I do and the sailer just came back on his words and decided to sell to the town 🫢🖕 The second was really close from this location was an awesome place but I couldn't buy it because of a stupid rich Guy who wanted it and made a big pressure and menaced me and the sailer so the thing just went down. And then this came as à big surprise. Now you know all !

Thank you for the info. I am looking for a retreat for me and my family, cabin to renovate. I am torn between italian and french alpes. Are you located at hautes alpes or closer to the mediteranian? Since it would be a holiday retreat for the time being, we have to have an eye on the distance to Frankfurt. Cheers, Michael

@@michaelmoh6594 im closer to the mediteranean sea. But hautes Alpes is also awesome, just dépends on what you are looking for. You can have more isolated places in hautes Alpes i think. But you can also find place like that here. It might just be à little more expensive

All fast forward becomes repulsive! As a momentary technique it has its place but only as an addendum with a point. It just becomes disorienting after a very short time.
