RENOGY 12V 100Ah Pro LifePO4 Battery Truck Camper Power Upgrade for Winter Ski and Snowboard Camping

Review and Installation of RENOGY 12V 100Ah Pro Lithium Battery with Self-Heating and Bluetooth. This Power Upgrade in my NorthStar Liberty Truck Camper will insure we never need to worry about power again on cold winter nights. We needed a battery that could charge in the coldest of weather and keep the heater running all night as we ski and snowboard throughout the west.

Keep in mind, the battery will only charge AFTER it has fully heated up when it is below 5 degrees Celsius (not sure what it is exactly in Fahrenheit). So when it is -10 degree Celsius, the batterie will draw about 5a until it reaches 10 degree Celsius again. This could take 1-2 hours before any power goes into the battery. So you have to take this into account, especially when you are planning to charge with a booster while driving as you have to drive long enough if it is cold. So maybe you have to plug shore power few hours before your trip for heating up the battery first if your Road time will be shorter. Not sure how much solar power you get in your cold area, but you have to ensure you are getting enough Amps to power the heating process constantly. But this would be the best option to ensure the battery is permanently tempered. I am very interested in your experience how long it takes to heat up the battery as it looks it can get quite cold in your area.

Thanks for the comment. I have the battery in side my camper so it is staying warmer then the outside temps. I have been using it for a little over a month now and have had it out in temps at or below zero Fahrenheit most of the times. The self-heating feature will turn on once the battery detects 4 amps and so far it has heated up the battery pretty quickly. It was around 4 degrees outside and the battery was down to 65% and it totally changed up within around 45 minutes of driving. Keep in mind i have a dc to dc charger so it was pumping in around 40 to 45 amps. Pretty impressed so far.

@@jasongee8890 yes, keeping the battery tempered inside the camper and having the heating as Support is the best option. Thanks for your details. Interesting, as charging 35a (100a battery 65% to 100%) should take about exactly 45 mins to charge with 45a booster without heating. Maybe you want to make a Video about the battery heating duration showing internal battery temperature, surrounding temperature and time to heat as there aren’t many real world tests available. :) Happy to hear it works well in your setup!

Hello Jason, what state are you in? I am in the North Carolina mountains. I just picked up the 400 what complete renogy kit and will be using your link to pick up an additional 400 watts of solar panels. Thanks for sharing your information about renogy.
