Phil's wife here. Great reaction. I have learnt a lot about Hip Hop because of Ren. Would be interested in learning more so keen to see you react to more of Ren's music.

You know why Ren rides this beat so well, it's because Ren's a musical genius. He purchased the rights to use the exact sample that Moby used in his 1999 Album, Natural Blues, which is by Vera Hall, Trouble So Hard 1937.🔥🔥 Ren personally mixed this track on his own from top to bottom adding the guitar licks, percussion and strings as well as all the synths and the distortions were created by altering the vocal sample itself. The actual sample by Vera Hall has no instrumental whatsoever. You can pull up the original Vera Hall sample on KZread and listen for yourself. Ren has a short on his channel that shows himself producing parts of this track as well as some methods he used to get certain sounds.👍

His beats ( self made, mixed, mastered) , lyrics and flow/s are always woven together which is even more impressive once you experience how many times he switches the flow within a single song. Hip-hop first came from the streets, from struggles, and everything they have to say that wasn't being heard. Here we have different streets and different struggles, but the words are just as raw and true. Just as needed. Still the soul of hip-hop.
