Ren NEEDS our thoughts and prayers right now. He is in Canada, receiving treatment for undiagnosed/untreated Lyme disease (that ravaged not only his body but even his brain). He will be there 6+/- months and will go through multiple surgeries. Ren is not like any other entertainer out there right now.....Ren is a Poet, a Singer, a Rapper, a Composer, a Songwriter, a Musician, a Producer, an Actor......an ARTIST. Keep going with Ren, you won't be disappointed.

Well, that Sony part did not really happen that way. He told the story in one of the interviews he did lately. It is true that he was "found" when busking in Brighton, and he started working on music for an album with them, and very shortly after that he started to having pain and mental symptoms. This led to him not being able to work (basically being bed bound) so he could not fulfill his part of the contract and they together agreed on ending it. It was the doctors he had contact with that for a long time failed to realise that his symptoms was because of Lyme Disease, and instead treated him for depression, bipolar and other mental issues. He suffered with this for several years, until he eventually found a doctor that correctly diagnosed him. He managed to get the infection fixed, but he is still dealing with the consequences of the damage that this made to his body.

@@MrsRealistic far as Rens music the trilogy Jenny's tale, Screech's tale, and Violets tale are the most interestingly strange musically oriented bit of true genius any artist has created that I've ever come across, and that says a lot coming from myself who doesn't turn a deaf ear or discount any genre, style, or era where music is concerned. The 3 songs mentioned can be found listed as jennys tale complete on KZread and run time for all parts is around 12 minutes total. If you thought Hi Ren was good, these 3 songs when played in order together will blow your freaking mind with the story they convey about "A girl named jenny, and a boy named Screech." This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

After watching the video and a little research I believe the room with cracks in the walls is his brain, the pig wheeling him in signifies incompetent doctor or incorrect medicine, the lamps is his neuron misfires. I feel so bad .... we all have spiritual attacks but Ren's brain damage has been an open door at times for Satan to enter. I come to that conclusion from the lights glitching when he is having the negative thoughts and then the lights stay on during times of clarity, peace, and control. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 5 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of his songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard. His trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion. It needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”), which are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up), their busking (street performances), concerts, and their live recordings, are awesome and well worth checking out. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. Ren recently released his single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. As mentioned above, his latest release, “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” is another masterful work.

The Meaning of Ren in Confucianism 2013-04-19 The core thought of Confucianism is Ren, but what is the meaning of Ren? Ren (or Rén) is the Confucian virtue denoting the good feeling a virtuous human experiences when being altruistic. Ren is exemplified by a normal adult's protective feelings for children. It is considered the inward expression of Confucian ideals. Yan Hui, Confucius's most outstanding student, once asked his master to describe the rules of Rén and Confucius replied, "One should see nothing improper, hear nothing improper, say nothing improper, do nothing improper." Confucius also defined Rén in the following way: "wishing to be established himself, seeks also to establish others; wishing to be enlarged himself, he seeks also to enlarge others." Another meaning of Rén is "not to do to others as you would not wish done to yourself." Confucius also said, "Rén is not far off; he who seeks it has already found it." Rén is close to man and never leaves him. Nature of Rén Rén relies heavily on the relationships between two people, but at the same time encompasses much more than that. It represents an inner development towards an altruistic goal, while simultaneously realizing that one is never alone, and that everyone has these relationships to fall back on, being a member of a family, the state, and the world. Rén is not a concept that is learned; it is innate, that is to say, everyone is born with the sense of Rén. Confucius believed that the key to long-lasting integrity was to constantly think, since the world is continually changing at a rapid pace. There have been a variety of definitions for the term Rén. Rén has been translated as "benevolence", "perfect virtue", "goodness" or even "human-heartedness". When asked, Confucius defined it by the ordinary Chinese word for love, ai, saying that it meant to "love others". Rén also has a political dimension. Confucianism says that if the ruler lacks Rén, it will be difficult for his subjects to behave humanely. Rén is the basis of Confucian political theory; the ruler is exhorted to refrain from acting inhumanely towards his subjects. An inhumane ruler runs the risk of losing the Mandate of Heaven or, in other words, the right to rule. A ruler lacking such a mandate need not be obeyed, but a ruler who reigns humanely and takes care of the people is to be obeyed, for the benevolence of his dominion shows that he has been mandated by heaven. Confucius himself had little to say on the active will of the people, though he believed the ruler should definitely pay attention to the wants and needs of the people and take good care of them. Mencius, however, did state that the people's opinion on certain weighty matters should be polled. Rén also includes traits that are a part of being righteous, such as hsin, meaning to make one's words compliment his actions; li, which means to properly participate in everyday rituals; ching, or "seriousness"; and yi, which means right action. When all these qualities are present, then one can truly be identified as a chün tzu (君子), or "superior man," which means a morally superior human being. Confucians basically held the view that government should be run by ethically superior human beings who concentrate solely on the welfare of the people they govern

Upchurch has no qualms about voicing his love for the confederate flag. It means something different for different people. I love Upchurch and ACal who speak loudly about their love for this country. I really like what Tom does, and if it opens people's eyes, then power to him. Of course he knows what sells, and he's great at it. Isn't that the point... making money doing what you love? I'm not going to knock an artist for finding a niche and making money. He's stayed pretty true to who he is and has used a lot of that money to help others. I love all kinds of music and all kinds of people. I can't pretend to know anyone personally just by hearing their music. Anyone can fake it I guess lol!

@Mrs. Realistic well, I didn't want to turn this into a debate about a flag. I was pointing out the phoniness of a Canadian showing it off. But for one, it's a racist symbol now any way you slice it. And beyond that, it represents the half of the country that didn't want to be part of the USA. That's literally as unpatriotic as it gets. PS I love some of Upchurch's music. But defending that flag hurts people.

@Mrs. Realistic This is kinda random, but have you heard Tom MacDonald-Wannabe? It's an old one and I would be interested in your reaction. But if not, you should at least listen to it on your own time. It's really good! ✌️☝️❤️
