Project description
Renfilats is the catalan word for rebuild-climb-skewer. It weaves with a whole network of human togetherness and sheds light on relationships that - consciously or unconsciously - determine everything interpersonal. The catalan ‘Castellers” and its human towers which their origins are a traditional folklore dance in the city of Valls, Spain, serves as metaphors for the collective creativity. This unity and emancipative potential of collective action, in which failure can also become an opportunity for growth and development, drives the essence of this production.
Strength, overcoming, bravery, fight, capacity, honor, homeland, roots, grounded, sweat… These are words that the castellers-dancers are living while performing this piece and who they embrace, listen, build and compress them into their dance. We all seek each other to be stronger, to have a solid pilar and to be present and making it happen. That security and pleasurable place to be while building the work and the towers as well as a relation as it’s whole.
The moto of the castellers-dancers are: strength, balance, bravery and common sense. Beyond that we live it and we go for it.
RENFILATS has recently been created at the Staatsballett of Hannover and presented together in partnership at the Tanz Theater International of Hannover, Germany. Alongside with a collaboration with the music composition of Alex Paton and the casteller and head master Carles Sirolla Juanpere.
