6/6/2024 - Did you have the paint tinted to the color you painted or was it one of the stock colors, no tinting?
Has it peeled
Your granite grip seemed to roll out nice, not mine which was very thick.
@filcandiy
Жыл бұрын
It is thick , you just need to roll it evenly ? I figure it out that pouring it directly it was way better. I was also advice from proffesional who was specialize this kind of work to pour it out is the best to finish the job and to roll out easier
Will the Behr product work on brick as well? I'm thinking staining the brick is the way to go but this is the first time I've heard of this product.
@filcandiy

I'd say why not? especially the bricks are rough so it might bond better than the concrete floor surface
How much texture is it? Enough to not be slippery or slick when wet?

How was the yielding? How is it holding up? I have heard a lot of negative reviews about expensive price, low yielding and peeling off prematurely.

Good job! Your project turned out very nice. Is the color you used mineral gray? It looks a little bluish than regular gray.

Good job looks great, I noticed at the beginning of the video the front window sill needed some attention, I see you took care of that. Putting the product on with the brush in the back and forth method is okay but the last stroke is a single stroke to smooth it out. This is called back brushing.

Do I have to use stripper if i don't have any old paint?

no , you can go directly, just clean the area . I might give lightly sand it for better bonding

It looks great, but it looks like it took about 2-3 gallons of paint? And, it looks like it's hard to apply, I was thinking about doing this myself but now I'm thinking maybe I should leave it up to a professional. Or, go with a regular paint for concrete versus Granite Grip.
@filcandiy

Yes 3gallons .its different from a latex that a gallon cover about 300 sqft . The porch area was about 42" x 25ft. Preparation was the hardest part specially if it was painted ,carpeted and glued down like this one here
@shippo72
Жыл бұрын
@@filcandiy I just got my 25ftx10ft concrete space done and it took 8 gallons of paint, and I bought an extra gallon just for touch-ups. It goes on THICK, about half a millimeter, that's why you need so much compared to the paper thin film you need for latex. The layer is 10 times thicker, and you need 10 times as much paint for the same surface area as latex. Also, prep work was a HUGE pain, as my space was just bare concrete that hat those faux grass "carpet" glued onto it, and then when the carpet glue failed after 10 years, it was just repainted with cheap concrete paint ON TOP on the old glue, which didn't last 6 months until it started peeling. My Ryobi brushless belt sander was a must have, especially since I couldn't transport a diamond grinder rental from home depot to the site. The Granite Grip looks SO NICE! But I was disappointed that the 'tan" color was actually grey paint with little sand particles in it to give the "tan" color effect when looking at it from 5 feet away.

I did my porch that’s only about 5’ by 10’ and did it all with a brush. Avoid the roller if you can results will be great by dabbing and going random directions. Concrete etch is a good idea and you can buy cost effective diamond cups for angle grinder on amazon and grind concrete with a garden hose dripping water for dust control. I haven’t tried a primer underneath but purchased 6 gals to work with on 2 properties

@@vaderladyl I heard it to from home owner who did it for themselves. I just got lucky I guess! I believe you, anything can happen? because these are just top coats only. even those liquid resurfacing cement, they don't last forever. I did my front porch 3 years ago but some areas started cracking up and lifting up.
I put sealer, put the best recommended paint. The result is: It was not even last 1 winter. I live in Southern Ontario. I bought product from Home Depot near my house. I will assume the product should resist the snow, rainy days of Ontario. Woop, one winter it starts to flick. This is my second winter past, I am using potty knife to pick out all the flicks. I picked tge cottage red color skin. You can image how that ended to look like. I strongly recommend: do not do it.!

Yeah man I not sure why some jobs peel up i personally have never had a job fail except when the clean /etch prep job fell short or if I've redone stain or epoxy like if I tried to renew by rethrowing some granite on top of old granite grip it seems to have a higher chance of failling. I do these quite often and prep has now become where I focus most attention over all. I use dawn, rinse then oxy degreaser like mold armor L remediation then scrape possibly acid wash then I down again and my final sep is to take moving blankets and spread them out flat and dump about 1 5 gal bucket of acetone all over the blankets and let em sit soaked for 1minute the acetone keeps long enough tosofren any remaining anything then I work those blankets around o floor as I pickem up. I know it's a lot of work but It works for rustomleum floors, behr, Craftsman, ace etc. Good fortunes
@askELON1133
10 ай бұрын
@@ska-hooterr5467 That's right on bout that acetone I just recently heard of and seen someone use those blankets on a car hood though. After like 30 seconds of that( canvas)tarp laying on it he just pressed form and wiped it off to bare metal. There was a few spots had to be recleaned but what I'm walking away with for sure is that acetone needs to be the LAST thing that touches that floor before you paint or stain and stay away from behr primers! They cause floors to fail
We did this and very disappointed. It didn’t hold up. We did all the prep work. Powered washed and acid washed. Very expensive. Going to tile now, we should have done tile in the first place. Behr is a good paint but stay away from this product!
