Rendezvous with Simi Garewal - Zeenat Aman (1999)

Ойын-сауық

She was a trendsetter, a movie star who dominated the 70’s & 80’s with her special brand of glamour.
She brought to Bollywood her westernized look and style. Her life & loves consumed reams of newsprint.
The image Zeenat evoked was pure male fantasy - and no one could ever imagine that behind the image was a woman who went through hell in her personal life.
In our rendezvous, Zeenat spoke straight from her heart - with an honesty so rare - and so heartrending...

What happened to Sanjay is karma, and what happened to Zeenat as well is karma because she allowed herself to enter the life of a pregnant, married, and stable woman to steal her husband’s heart even though she knows her. I really don’t understand how some women can find falling in love with a married man to be something that cannot be punished. Breaking another woman’s heart is something ugly

This woman has been through so much and she stills stands tall! She is so raw and real here. Not having a father is so damaging to a child. Both Zeenat and Rekha are living proof of this fact. She picked the worst of men because she didn't have an example of what to look for in a man and what a healthy relationship/marriage looks like. I love her more for not once saying something bad about her father or the men, including her ex-husband, who gave her so much grief.

Zeenat Aman was fantastic here: to be this vulnerable on record and still convey a sense of strength is no mean feat. Her decision to not marry ( yet possibly be in a relationship), her resolve to not talk down her deceased husband, the general dignity with which she comports herself are all lessons for women struggling with life. It's sad to see that such a one as her has to be so disillusioned with love and life.

Dear Simmi, this interview with Zeenat is so touching while she is completely broke and admits her heart rules her mind. It happens with most sentimental individuals. This may be true with a man or a woman. I have almost a similar story. But my greatest satisfaction is amazingly positive. My both the children are married, successful and comfortably placed. I continue to stay single without walking out of marriage. At 70, I stay alone and do recall my mother's advice who, in my prime youth suggested me to stay away from marriage and she was so true. The one who is much influenced by heart must not choose marriage a destination.
