Renault Megane 2 handbrake / parking brake does not work, what to do, quick fix
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Recently I tried to fix unevenly rusted back rotary discs for my Renault Megane 2, and I tried to do it by using a lot of handbrake, it kind a worked, but now I have different problem.
Just a few days ago I noticed that my hand brake starts to work really bad, and not long time after that it didnt work at all, when I tried to pull the handle, it had no resistance in it and of course the parking brake didnt work.
On my video I am just showing how easy it is to diagnose in first place, what is worng, it wont take too much time to do, but might save money on new brake cables, all you will need is just torx 20 L shape tool, shown in the video and for quick fix, as in my case, I used as well a bit of duct tape.
any way I might do video part 2, where I will show how to replace hand brake cables on your Renault Megane 2, but for now I ll use what I did on the video.
So if you suddenly lose your handbrake at once, dont panic, just inspect by yourself, before you spend money on new cables, if they are really necessary!

Thanks for taking the time to make this, it's not easy trying to do these things whilst holding a camera in one hand. :)

Thank you very much for this video. My handbrake cable "fell off" today and it is now fixed because of your helpful walkthrough :)
Top tip, remove the plastic plate from the console where the handbrake lever comes to rest when the brake is off, push seats forward and remove both torx screws and you will be able to lift the console carefully from the rear and access the brake cables and adjuster nut, the design fault is if one of the arms on the rear drums starts to stick (and not all have external return springs) you let off the brake and the cable comes adrift at the handle end and next thing you know you have no handbrake which isn't what you want. Another thing I've done is to fashion a strip of metal (in my case an old piece of Meccano) and wire tied it to the balance bar so that neither cable can come adrift whatever happens, hope this helps and thanks to JUrtans for posting the video
Thank you for posting, will help me a lot tomorrow when helping my friend with his car 💪🏽
Thanks that you show us how to remove the tunnel. I need to replace the brake cable. Now I know how to do it.
Nice video my friend, thanks for the help! Regarding the two screws at the rear of the casing, down by the seats, l found it it easier to get out of the car and push the seats as far forward as possible giving much easier access to the screws. 👍🏻
You helped me fix a trim issue. Thank you!
Thanks man. Your video helped a lot 😄

After a few years driving with duct tape quick fix, and time to time puting cables back in the bracket, I finally fix it for real, one of my rear brake cylinder body was not working properly, so I replaced it with a new, tip, I bought TRW part, bcos they are making renault OEM brake cylimder part, just cost cheaper under their brand and now my cables are same lenght, so if one cable is a lot longer than other, most probably you need to replace one of your rear brake cylinder body

Loosen central screw. Hang it back with hook wire. You don't have to be a boxer! Reset. Compensating plate is skewed, automatic brake readjustment is not good! That's why he got stuck. Google translator
