    To me, this car has everything a car needs to have: good engine, good gearbox, good brakes, and it's practical. To be honest, I don't know why you are complaining so much about plastics inside, or reliability (since these are new generations of engines), or lack of automated assistance systems, because unless new regulations, every human that has a driving license must know how to drive carefully in order to prevent accidents. This review was quite negative for such a decent car, since no big advantages compared to rivals were presented.

    I don't understand why all the journalists think the new climate controls are better. They look nice on the surface, but the old ones are way easier to actually use, the display was much clearer and not shrunk into the tiny centre of the dials. More journos loving form over function. Same goes for the old infotainment, new one looks pretty but the physical home and volume dial on the old one was much easier and practical to use.

    Stay far and away from EDC transmission. Had a 2018 model of a Renault, it was such a pain driving at low speeds or urban. I would rather go for what Volvo and DS is doing on their XC40 and DS7 - using Aisin auto gearbox. I would even go for a CVT over an EDC. Such a waste, nice car but lousy transmission. Hope Renault will look into disposing the EDC or at least give options for another better transmission.

    I find the EDC in my 2020 Kadjar very responsive and part of what makes the 158 HP turbo petrol drivetrain fun. It surely adds to the efficiency as well. You just have to get familiar to the creep function at low speeds. After driving it I'd never go back to a normal auto because it provides constant uninterrupted acceleration between gears, as per the design of wet dual-clutch transmissions.

I myself found it appealing and recommended it to my family, leading to a purchase with a significant discount (although it was the first version offered in Australia, but now it's discontinued in favour of the Arkana because Renault Australia is all over the place and now directed by an independent distributor, but that's another story).

    I know this is an unpopular opinion but I would just like to say how much I enjoy Carbuyer reviews. I’ve had enough of Matt Watson’s increasingly enthusiastic personality and all the little sheep that follow him around. These reviews are informative and mature and there are no pointless drag races etc. Carwow have also recently become overly obsessed with “the bell icon” even demonstrating how to turn notifications on in settings. I’m sure every single person on KZread knows how to turn on “the bell icon” if we wanted to so we don’t need to be told to every single episode (that goes for carbuyer as well although to a much lesser extent).

  • @ytlurker220

    @ytlurker220

    I don't see Matt drag racing mainstream SUVs. He makes different videos about different cars to appeal to different people... And it has worked. His channel is measurably successful many magnitudes of times over this channel. I find his personality makes things more entertaining and adds to the authenticity of the review. Informing people how to get notified about new videos, 10 seconds every video, is easily overlooked and part of how channels become so successful. Suit yourself, as for me I find this Carbuyer reviewer very opinionated, misinformed and not aligning with the needs of most people.

    Hideous inside and out yet the Peugeot is probably the most stylish of all SUV's currently. Survey's don't tend to be that accurate and can be easily manipulated. I prefer the reliability index which is based on warranty claims so doesn't normally kick in until the manufacturer's warranty has run out but gives much more accurate results as no bias just pure data. There Renault score quite well and it is when the manufacturer's warranty runs out that it is most important surely. Just to show its accuracy both Nissan and Renault have similar scores. www.reliabilityindex.com/manufacturer Still wouldn't buy a Kadjar though it looks awful. Whoever is styling current Renaults is not doing a good job to say the least.

    @@richards4456 A lot of entry level Mercedes Benz models have Renault engines and it seems to have improved their reliability rating. The thing that is one factor though is if a car brand sells more entry lever smaller cars which tend to skew their reliability upwards and if they sell mainly higher price more luxurious cars with more gadgets and complicated engines it will skew it downwards which is why it is amazing how well Lexus scores. I'm unsure what Renaults best selling cars are but I suspect it is smaller simpler models but I honestly don't know. Looking at the individual renault models it looks pretty positive though with quite low repair charges. Historically I remember hearing in the past electrical problems were one of the main issues with French cards both PSA group and Renault and perhaps there is still some truth to that but compared to German cars which seem absolutely plagued with electrical issues due to their high level of gadgets plus high level of options in their cars meaning electrically they are often quite different as different options are fitted.
