The Renault Clio Renaultsport hot hatch is hardly slow, but it's no match for the Clio Cup racing car. Its 220bhp might not be a big hike in power, but it weighs around 100kg less thanks to a stripped out interior and light weight exhaust. Not only that, but it has a straight-cut sequential gearbox with lightning fast shifts and short ratios, as well as slicks and, of course, race-tuned suspension. Matt Prior goes head-to-head in the Clios at Silverstone's Stowe circuit.

Brings back memories of my Clio 182: Had it from new after 3 years I sold it with 120K miles on the clock - and I loved every single one of them. :)

Still a good deal for the street car, though. But 5 doors and no manual is a huge step away from the Clios that I've come to love. If I had the disposable income, I would pass on this Clio.

Yeah, shame.... but, in a 2min circuit, for instance, it would be like 20 sec faster.... just the slicks would give him 10, 11, maybe 12 sec advantage... no kidding. It's all about making the car hug the tarmac.

Well it's new, so perhaps not literally uncreative in that sense, but hyperbole is justified given the lackluster styling effort. Bad research at it's finest.
