For me the easiest way to remove the plastic cover is to take the whole upper console part off like at 3:30, you then push the 2 clips forward on the white plastic bulb housing part that comes away and the plastic cover simply drops off, just to the reverse to to put back. To get the bulbs out simply push a flat head screwdriver into the bulb slots from behind, you can disconnect the wire if you wish.
