One really important thing how to remove inner driveshaft because is sitting really well and need to use some force to remove Is not going easily like on the video Regards
Should you have lowered the car before topping up the gearbox oil? I reckon you could overfill it the way shown in the video as I believe car was still raised at front.

Ideally yes, but the overfill would only be a tiny amount, and there's a large safety margin built into the gearbox capacity specs.
