Renaissance Man Reacts to Home Free- When a Man Loves a Woman (A couple Non PC jokes! Sorry)

I left out Percy Sledge. Idiot! Lost in a haze of growing up in the 70's and 80's. Loved this version and look forward to more. Hope you like it.

What's equally amazing is that they were in 5 different locations in 3 different cities because of lock down. I love the fact that they continued to put out content during the pandemic using their phones and home recording equipment when bigger name artists were bitching about not being able to go to the studio. The HF rabbit hole is such a fun place to explore. You should check out their version of Do You Hear What I Hear. Adam arranged it and it's PHENOMENAL! I never particularly like that song until I heard this version and now it's one of my favorites.

Austin's background is in musical theater, so yeah. He has skills in emoting aside from the fact that these guys all take an immense amount of joy in performing and putting out fantastic music. His voice is so beautiful and strong he could knock drones out of the sky. The background harmonies and Tim's bass were on point. Adam's beat boxing is always next level and this killed. Thanks for a great reaction.

Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group. The only lineup change was Chris Rupp the co-founder (with brother Adam - Beatboxer) left to pursue a solo career & Adam Chance replaced him in 2016.

I find that Home Free does that with quite a lot of their cover songs, bring them from angst to joy, and it's beautiful. They do what they do from their hearts save it shows, it's heard and it's felt. This is how this song was always meant to be sung as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the reaction. 🥰🙏

Technically, you're correct. But really, Home Free has a knack for making every cover their own, with wonderful arrangements and novel harmonies that shouldn't work but do. They can send a message without being preachy. Hell, Butts Remix - they took out the sleaze and kept all the fun. How many artists out their do beautiful renditions of a song combined with a video full of humor? They're goofy and never take themselves too seriously. Their collaborations with other artists showcase their talents while giving the original artist center stage. How many times have they taken a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will? They've done it to me four times now, and I'm not alone. They each have innate talent, polished by decades of hard work. They can drop a new cover and it becomes a classic the minute it debuts - think "Do You Hear What I Hear?" How often do you think of a song, and the first version you think of is Home Free's? That, my friend, is an upgrade.

@@GaiaOne You're preaching to the choir here. I've been a fan for more than 8 years, have supported them on Patreon ever since, have seen them live 18 times in 8 different countries, have written many blog posts about them, turned reactors onto them, am the creator of more than one Facebook fan group, and I like literally every song they cover more than I like the original, even the originals that were once favourite songs. Yes, they do upgrades, but it's still a cover because they are literally, and technically, covering a song that already existed before they did it, which simply means that it's not an original song that they are the first onea to record. The upgrade is not about it not being a cover, in fact it HAS to be a cover for it to be an upgrade or there would be nothing to upgrade from. The fact that many of us think they do their covers better than the originals is a personal choice, taste and opinion. It still is, and will continue to be, a cover.

I was amused by the on screen comment that when Austin squints something new is about to happen. Nobody else has mentioned it. I picked up on it in a much older video, "O Holy Night". I respect Percy Sledge's version as the original; nice soul presentation but lacks any warmth (IMHO). Michael Bolton brought much more soul into his version--it really gives you the idea he is feeling it personally; it is the version I've had on my playlist for decades. But--Home Free's version? Austin's high notes are every bit as amazing as the others. And ALL completely acapella?!? With their harmonies and Adam's vocal percussion too?!? No solo act is ever going to best their version as far as I'm concerned. Theirs is now what plays on my regular playlist. In my opinion, Home Free OWNS this song now❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Home Free has been such a great gift to all of us--especially their extra efforts in providing us with excellent music/videos throughout quarantine and the difficult days of isolation we all dealt with during the pandemic. Their creativity in producing the "quarantine" videos--and their commitment to continuing to provide new entertainment throughout (even though they weren't even in the same state!)--has brought along many HF converts. Got to ❤️❤️❤️ Home Free!!

The original members from "The Sing Off" are basically the same except for one. Tim Foust is the bass with 5+ octave range, Austin Brown is the high tenor, Rob Lundquist is the tenor with the smooth soul sound, Adam Rupp is the vocal percussionist who also sings tenor and is a co-founder of HF. Chris Rupp was a baritone and also co-founder of HF with his brother and he is the one you see in older videos usually wearing a hat. He left around 2016 to pursue other interests and has his own reaction channel where he talks about a lot of the older videos/songs and also has a history series about the founding and early HF days. Adam Chance (called Chance to not mistake with the other Adam) came to HF after Chris left and he is a Baritone/Bass but also has quite a range. He was the bass for his previous group and can cover for Tim when Tim takes the lead. Tim and Chance make a great rich lower sound that fills out the sound.

The last lineup change for Home Free was back in 2016. One of the founding members of the group, Chris Rupp, brother of the beatboxer and cofounder Adam Rupp, left the group to do other things, and the 4 octave baritone Adam Chance joined the group. Adam Chance (who is known as Chance because there are 2 Adams) comes from another acappella group, and has been a great addition to this group. Home Free was founded in 2000 by Chris and Adam Rupp, and there has been many personnel changes in the past, and when the Rupp's added bass Tim, tenor Robb, and high tenor Austin, the group really clicked, and their popularity has soured since. They have grown to have over a million subscribers, and have a very large and loyal fan base, who are called Home Fry's (or Home Fries). Everything this group releases, covers or originals, is almost immediately popular. They are very impressive.

I LOVE YOUR LITTLE JOKES AND COMMENTS!! Don't change a thing. It's really easy to fall into that HF rabbit hole. Tim (bassman) describes their fans as "rabid", and he's right. Austin does the lead on "Listen to the Music", too. The only major change occurred when Chris Rupp (featured on the Elvira video) left to take a different path. He suggested Adam Chance as his replacement, and it has worked out well. In fact, I think he adds a lot to the group, plus he carries the bass line when Tim solos. He sings lead quite often, and he does some fine work with the Fox and Hound duo. Austin and Tim have another project going called Sweet & Low, with some of their friends, as well. Don't know if Broadway is your thing, but Austin has a great rendition of "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables, if you care to check him out. "Love Me Like That" is another Austin gem. Believe me....they will keep you busy.

Austin has some great videos on his solo channel..(AUSTIN BROWN)…his girlfriend…Amberly, is his camera person…& he’s done some pretty AMAZING songs….”BRING HIM HOME”…from Les Miserables….is mind numbing, it’s so good 🥰❤️‼️😵‍💫

Austin’s girlfriend is standing next to the cameraman. I think that helped. 😉 There was one change in band members. Baritone and co-founding member Chris Rupp (brother of the beatboxer Adam) left in 2016, I believe, and helped to find Adam “Chance” Chance, who actually sang bass in his last group. It was a brilliant addition, freeing Tim Foust from doing bass so he could take more leads. Chance’s voice is also incredibly versatile, as well. He blends very well with both Tim and Rob in several songs - I particularly notice in My Church. You also need to check out Brothers in Arms and How Great Thou Art.

I really enjoy your reactions, particularly the onscreen remarks! The present line-up for HF has been the same since 2016, when Chris Rupp (Adam the beatboxer's brother0 left for a solo career and Adam Chance (baritone but also sings bass) joined. Chance, as he's known to avoid confusion, has a most extraordinary voice, and you might check out his version of Wandering Stranger with the dui the Hound and the Fox, or Cover Me Up or Yours with HF. I really wish you hadn't said that about Austin being your prison bitch - it made me laugh out loud, but it put such disturbing images in my head that will take some time to dispel. Particularly since I have had a certain tendresse for Austin since the day I set eyes on him.

I recommend one good singer to you. Her name is 'Sohyang'. She is a Korean national treasure singer and gospel singer. She covered 'I Have Nothing' and was invited by David Foster, the original songwriter and Whitney Houston producer, as the main singer for his 30th anniversary performance. There, I sang 'I Have Nothing' and 'I Will Always Love You'. Her songs and covers are a real incredible diva that makes you feel overwhelmed and moved the moment you hear it. There are so many other good songs, but I hope you enjoy listening to these two songs in full.

Hi Ken, I'm going to be in and out checking out your previous reactions. Just an FYI, you're probably too young to have heard this song's original version - written by Calvin Lewis and Andrew Wright and first recorded by Percy Sledge in 1966, but if you have the time, check it out. I fell in love with this song then, but I have to admit that Austin and HF did it justice. I am loving your channel. Thank you for not trying to be someone you're not. I like the genuine you.

I think you would be able to appreciate the new one they just did. Amazing reaction my friend!!...I have seen your reactions to Dimash, the best male singer of the world (In my personal opinion)...Now I want to invite you to meet, who is considered like The Fourth Element of All Time Vocal Trinity (with Whitney, Mariah and Celine) and one of the Best Female Singers of the World...The passion and dedication when Dimash is performing a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable, the Goddess: Lara Fabian...She is a lyric soprano with a amazing vocal range and incredible breath control...She speaks and composes in 5 languages and sings in more than 15 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see covers of her songs on KZread made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Polina Gagarina, Forestella, Julie Anne San Jose, Sissel Kyrkjebo, Floor Jansen, Diana Navarro, Giulia Falcone, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Rimar, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Lara...Here you have the link of her amazing performance of the song “Je Suis Malade”....kzread.info/dash/bejne/l3yH281tg6rapbw.html
