Every Ren song is different there is no way to lock him into a Genre.

Hi ren was 100% a live one-take (albeit, multiple takes were attempted). That's why it is both unbelievable and incredible - dig further into his discography, and you'll see that Ren in particular enjoys the challenge of performing complete one-takes. This one included.

4 takes. It's possible the spoken part at the end is from a different take apparently.

Hi Ren was a single take performance, it was the 4th take, because they were shut down by the landlord because it was 11pm 😄. There are some extra hand-held camera splices at the end, but the audio is one take from beginning to end. His vocal is recorded from his lapel mic and also camera mics, his guitar is plugged in to a transmitter and sent to the desk along with his vocal feed with another transmitter.

Ren is probably the most diverse artist I can think of right now. Do The Hunger, Losing it, THe Tales, Crutch, Ocean, Money Game 1+2, Animal Flow, How to be Me, and some busking videos with Sam Tompkins or The Big Push, and then understand that he writes everything, plays multiple instruments, produces the music, raps, directs the videos, etc…all while living in a personal medical hell for about the last 15 years.

Ren is a lot more than a victim of his illnesses, you've seen very little of what he does. As a musician the trilogy 'The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full)' is a must. Jamming with his band The Big Push, busking on the streets of Brighton with his friend Sam, his amazing rapping and self-produced beats... he has a ton of talents to see still. He's one of the most impressive artists I've ever seen, and he's indepenfent, doing all of this with his friends. And to top it all off he's the most unassuming and genuine bloke as well, as seen in his recent interview with Justin Hawkins. A true generational talent.

Ren was bed ridden for some years after being misdiagnosed. He is currently receiving treatment in Canada. He has been in a life and death situation for years.

As someone said, Hi Ren was live. They did four takes though to get all camera angles right.

The mental health thread is in many of his songs but definitely not all, reading his background story will explain that one. I would suggest the full version of the Tales of Jenny & Screech for a completely different side, especially if you like storytelling in music.

“Ooh, he’s got an electric guitar this time” every reactor at the beginning.

Ren is a life experience, he is so diverse it is incredible. His Band The Big Push have so many amazing tracks as well. I didn't like rap until I found Ren and his cover of War Pigs is another genre I didn't venture down, but it is awesome. I would also love you to see Chinchilla doing " Fingers Live " it is off the scale. Good luck on your travels.

Hi Ren WAS in fact all done Live! They did 4 takes, and the last one was the final. They did some camera edits but as far as the sound goes it was all taken from his performance in that room. He has several Live takes like this, How To Be Me is my fave as well as this song

Ren has battled health and mental health problems for years and is currently in Canada having expensive treatment. Ren is so talented, most talented I have listened to on here tonight😊

Ren's thing is EVERYTHING!

For me this is one of those songs where I can't decide whether I prefer the live version or the studio recording. They're both amazing, for different reasons. I would recommend listening to the studio version, there is a lyric video for it. You get a lot more musicality and layering. Both versions are equally incredible.

Doing songs live in one shot is kind of Ren's thing. Hi Ren, this one, and many others are done that way.

Loved your reaction. However, concerning Hi Ren, you are wrong. All of Hi Ren was live. You will know when Ren is not live and miming. He makes it obvious. Did you notice at the end of Hi Ren he adjusts his wires to his mic and guitar? That was to show it was live. Don't worry about Chinchilla's ass wiping. The nails are for performance only.

HI REN was entirely one take. He did the song 4 times completely, and kept the whole 4th take. The monologue at the end was from a different take. Other than that, the whole song was live with no cuts. If you watch/react to his TALE OF JENNY & SCREECH (FULL), all 3 stories were done live and in ONE TAKE. He's absolutely incredible. Oh and his other Ren x Chinchilla duet HOW TO BE ME (LIVE) is also incredible. OH! And he just dropped ANIMAL FLOW, and the entire video was done in ONE TAKE. Not live, but still super impressive.

The oversized white clothes are a reference to the subject.... a common side effect of this med is feeling like your "outline" is gone... your personality is flattened, you no longer have a grip on who you are, because 'who you are' is gone... the white oversized clothes erase their body outlines and leave them vague

You should see the video where his band The Big Push does a cover of "I shot the Sheriff". He also has a stadium like more rock based song "Fire". He is so versatile.

He has a few beautiful songs about drug recovery (Drug dealer, Kevin, otherside). They really helped me when I was going through it too.

The entirety of Hi Ren was live, with additional close-ups edited in from another take towards the end. All of that back and forth at the beginning, and the possession and redemption verses, was a single take.

Those Chinchilla nails get EVERY reactors attention... lol man, I really recommend divin' into REN. He has his darker tracks like this, but also a lot happier ones.

You have got to check out Ren playing live with the band the Big Push! You will dig it!!

Chinchilla, Daisy Bertenshaw, was (& still is) very shy and found preforming nerve wracking, causing her to shake badly, so she created the "Chinchilla" persona to be able to preform. She calls it her armor. Only Chinchilla has the long pointy nails. Lol She is Incredible!

If you think they poured a 500 gal drum of soul into a thimble in this song, How to Be Me is probably pouring a tanker truck into a thimble. It's a song Ren wrote in memory of his friend Joe Hughes who killed himself. Freckled Angels is another good song that Ren wrote in honor of Joe days after his death, and performed at the funeral.

If you look at hi Ren when he mentioned Jimmy Hendrix you can see him turn his head with the wrong tone in his voice. It's live.

Korn is my favorite and it drove me this! Dark, raw, and beautiful

@@ThunderRooster When looking at objects and subjects the more perspectives the better the view as long as it's honest we get a clearer picture more resolution. A new angle of perspective doesn't take away from the picture it ads to it. These are all facts that are known to Ren Reaction fans because he has no genre so when following reactors of Ren when end up subbing to reactors of all music types and venturing into new uncharted lands that broaden our perspectives. Some will focus on lyrics, others on the cadence speeds changes syllabic arrangement of the bars, others on the music, others on the philosophy, others on the history, others on the medical, others on the cultural & all lend eyes for a better view. Sertraline is Zoloft a depression medicine that causes self deletion they are known as SSRI's selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and their effectiveness has recently been called into question. Ren lost a friend to self deletion Ren ^ Chinchilla made a song about mourning the gone called "How to Be Me" by Ren & Chinchilla. You would probably appreciate the Live version like this one it's very well recorded, it's not rap (not that your reactions should limit themselves to not do rap) it's very much like this. As for the paper I'm guessing she just uses a lot super long nails are popular in Puerto Rico I don't get it either, blessings on you and your kin.

Ren is an independent artist, so it's not really his "job" to make videos. Instead, it's his identity and he's said before he could not exist if he couldn't do it. I'm not sure about Chinchilla; I understand she had been under contract but has recently split after a disagreement concerning one of her videos (Run Little Girl). Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole!

Hi Ren was all live with some post editing. This is all live, as well. The chair was to show the reverb of the room, and you talk way too much. Chinchilla removes the nails after performances. Sertraline is the generic name for Zoloft, an antidepressant. Ren has Lyme disease, but before getting that diagnosis, he was told he was crazy and became psychotic, and went through 10 years of hell.

It took you 5 minutes to get into the video.
