My absolute favourite duet in many years, their " How to be Me " Live is very special indeed. Chinchilla is such a brilliant artist and her " Fingers Live for Hunger TV " is about as good as any vocalist could ever be. She released a new track today 1:5 is Awesome, but so is her catalogue. They do a busking session in the streets of Brighton and the " One Dance/Drunk in Love " is so raw it is off the LIVE scale. Loved your reaction.

I agree; as an old white lady I haven't traditionally included rap in my listening. Ren has me fascinated; his rich Shakespearian wordplay...it has me watching other rap artists. I really get something from it when it it aimed at social welfare and not at negative shock value. I DO enjoy the newer stuff...the positive artists....his notes of reggae, classically inspired pieces...THE GUITAR has never had such a magnitude of expression. Good Gods girl don't touch your face with those.....talons. I love their duet pieces, the harmony. I love the folkish aspect, technical perfection and exact editing are not the road to a beautiful performance. It needs to feel more HUMAN. Didn't expect it to be heavy? Some music you put on to read to, or clean, or relax, sleep, feel inspired......you listen to Ren ready to THINK. You can't just watch. You WILL be forced to contemplate. It's therapy. Expect turbulence ahead, buckle in, and experience. It's real, it's RAW....and RICH with the juice of life. All of them, even the pee. I'm here for reality. Never heard of Chinchilla; but her voice is beautiful, and I'd like to see them do other things together! Thank you!

Ren and Chinchilla are musical siblings they say. Her voice is so powerful. I love Cut you off and Fingers live. Chalk outlines are what I felt when I was given antidepressants that didn’t work. I’m now on ones that don’t do that. Look forward to more Ren, Chinchilla, The Big Push, Sam Tompkins, Ocean etc… All Ren music with them. Great reaction

Ren just released his first original single for 2024 a week ago called "Troubles". It's his first song that spells out the struggle with his illness. Also on his RenMakesStuff channel, he released an 8 part series that chronicles his health struggles in detail and it's meant to be a companion piece to the song. I would love if you guys checked that one out too! I highly recommend checking out the 8 chapters that tell Ren's story. What he has been through is incredible, and it provides a lot of context for and insight into his music. they are on his renmakesstuff channel, but also in a "Troubles" playlist on his regular renmakesmusic channel.

Although I have never personally relied on a medication to balance my emotions, I had a brother who struggled with mental health, so a song like this helps to give me perspective into what he was experiencing and it breaks my heart to know others go through these deep, dark emotions and gives me a better empathy towards their struggles. Thank you for your honest and emotional reactions. It's good to know that others find him just as hard hitting as I do. 💕

Any song of Chinchilla will do. She's done a few with Ren. Hit all of those as well.

Sending a cyber-hug! This song hit le like a ton of bricks when dove into the Reniverse last year. Ren and Chinchilla co-wrote this song, I believe. You clearly already see the brilliance of Ren but what you may be just learning is that he surrounds himself with other incredibly talented artists. You’ve only seen the tip the iceberg! Thank you for your reaction. I also was put on meds long ago which did nothing besides take away my ability to feel or care. Docs tried several meds all with the same result. One of them even threw me into a chemical rage and I had to stop it immediately and keep away from people until it cycled out of my system. After 2 years of being an experiment for them I completely stopped taking meds. I've learned to deal with my issues and how to live with them.

You guys are good people.

Chalk outlines....the drugs they give you to muffle the pain also leave you more, and more isolated....by others, and by yourself.

Great reaction, as usual, and I really love your post song commentary, thank you for sharing with us. On that point I wanted to add something, I'm not pushing for advocating any specific treatment, this is simply my opinion and advice, coming from someone pushing old fart status, who has had his ups n downs with meds and mental health professionals, and still in treatment for job related ptsd..... I'm not sure which med or treatment you tried, or how many and it's none of my business, I just like to remind the younger folks out there not to forget, finding the right therapist or doctor is key. I liken it to finding the right partner you want to spend your life with and have kids with. If you're not 100% comfortable, ask for another care provider, it's your body and your mental health. I know that's not always easy, especially in the U.S. and ones access to medical insurance, but if you can, be picky. If you can accomplish that, same thing with the meds. I'm by no means big on meds, and my former job was emergency medicine field, so I've literally dealt with big pharma and all their evil. But many moons ago, when I was at my lowest and really struggling with depression and anxiety, I really lucked out with a good therapist and primary doc, who actually took the time to know what was working and not working. And boy oh boy did I almost tell them to take a hike a few times because of different meds I was trying and the awful side effects. But they talked me into sticking with it and low n behold I found an antidepressant that made such a noted improvement that I was on it for almost a year before I quit thinking.... "This is just temporary, no way it keeps working this well". I was on it for almost a decade, and eventually my aging body and it's effectiveness weren't in sync anymore, and I'm now doing a trial run with being off of it for a while and things are going pretty good, little moody for the first month. OK fine, I'm a guy, and I was flat out weepy like I was postpartum, I'd see a cute puppy dog commercial and break down crying...lol, but it passed. All I'm saying is don't take no crap from doctors you don't like or that just throw meds at ya, but also remember there's hundreds of mental health meds out there and every single person can and will have different reactions and effects from them, and it sucks putting your body through the side effects of ones that don't work, but I promise you if you find the right one, it will all be worth it. Just my two cents, either way, take care of one another, keep advocating for more awareness and we'll all get through this crazy life in one piece ✌💚 (P.S. One thing above all else that's always helped me, not a cure all, and doesn't help drastically, but helps enough to keep me steady and more at peace day to day......meditation, I used to laugh at the thought, but it's really quite helpful and easy to do)
