This has always been one of my favourites. Not many people know that oil giant Shell actually sold shells back in the 1800s by gathering up exotic shells and hoarding them to push up the prices, Ren's lyrics here are factual. Then DeBeers did the same with diamonds. The old money game.

I was as uneducated about the origins of Shell Oil as well, and considering I'm nearing 60, have heard of the Rothschild family and their being so great in whose purse strings held the most money, yet never hearing that they worked hand in hand with the sons of the Shell seller in England, which gave them the chance to become the giant oil company "Shell" we have all heard of. I've done a lot of reading about the company and origins, in the past 2 days, The story was told to a coworker who is Dutch, from and schooled in the Netherlands, he said he learned this sea shell sales to becoming Shell Oil connection, and the companies growth and their becoming bigger than the monopoly they broke that was held by Standard Oil in high school, it was a common lesson plan story, I guess you could say the Shell Oil story was also "Standard" curriculum. (No pun intended, but still funny. )

It's true. The Shell Transport and Trading Company sold exotic shells with a side trade in petroleum products before merging with Royal Dutch Petroleum to form Royal Dutch Shell aka Shell aka Hell.

That's the first time I've heard Part 2. Absolutely blown away. The maturity of thought, the clarity, the genius and he was 21 when he dropped that. Man. Bob Dylan much?

I'm sorry to the fans that have followed Ren for years and I have only become a fan recently with Hi Ren, I would of been a fan if someone had of told me about him earlier but well, here I am now as a fan for life . It's awesome to be able to watch him rise up to legendary status where he rightfully belongs.

Every song he does and every video he make gives the impression of an established artist and I have to keep reminding myself that he's an unsigned independent artist. He is so refreshing and he's beginning to shake the system. We need more like him so we can democratise music take it back from the greedy slaughter pigs!

I CANT BELIEVE THE GUY HAS THIS MANY STRAIGHT FIRE BANGERS!!!!! The beats are always great, the videos are amazing and then the lyrics are just KILLER!!! This one in particular was so fucking smart and even more so for how he set a slower pace and put all the lyrics on screen to make sure anyone could follow this song. Me and my mom both love his music and I immediately sent her this one (she's big on fighting consumerism) and I was like "Mom he made a rap for old people, you'll be able to read the lyrics on screen"- she LOVED it. That last line just levels you, like yup, that's exactly what they are doing. Also, do you think there's a real correlation between what you guys are putting out and the shit YT has been pulling? Because if Rens videos being shared makes them pull some shit, that's a big matter.........

Yup. This came out before Hi Ren so when She Sells Sea Shells came up in Hi Ren it was a reference to this song of Ren's.

This is intelligent music. I love how Ren threads themes through his music. Waves, seashells, she sells sea shells. He lives in Brighton on the south coast of England and my guess is he does a lot of thinking on the coast looking out to sea.

When I saw this one the number to part it reminded me of what Tom did with brainwashed it's very similar enlisting all the different ways they screw us. It's genius I think the only reason he isn't bigger is he is from Britain so the underground scene in America doesn't really see Ren. What I think is really freaking awesome is that Ren is from Brighton so you know people already know him he busked and has videos of him busking there so you know in Brighton he's now a local legend 🤣🤣

Another great reaction buddy. How about Ren - Life is funny Not sure if anyone has requested this older Ren video but it is great. The video is in a visually similar format to this one. Since jumping down this rabbit hole I've been watching Ren's YT videos from the first one he released 11 yrs ago up to now. That is a whole new journey. Experiencing the beginnings/development of ideas/themes etc and then see them develop further into studio or live versions or, ultimately, into entirely different songs. FYI, Ren's first YT upload was Street Lights - Live at The Regal Room from 11 years ago. You can tell from this he had storytelling in his bones that was only going to develop further. Not suggesting you react to it but give it a listen for your own pleasure.

I love how the 1st time I've heard this song was because, for some reason, there were a bunch of memes of Luigi rapping "She sells seashells on the sea shore" 😂 But yeah, that's the business and the thing with politics and economic is that it's all tied to our culture and education, my personal advice would be to always try and meet people, we all need contacts, expose yourself and always try to take opportunities to get jobs, learn how you can invest and buy stocks (you don't need to be rich to do it, you can even do it online), learn to make a budget and just be responsible with your money💰, because the second you get that money, the system or inflation is gonna suck your money dry if you don't do anything.
