Me too! We saw Carousel twice and Renee Fleming came outside after both performances and gave autographs. Her voice is just seared in my soul.

Same here! One of the best performances I’ve ever seen. Got a selfie with her at the stage door too!

I cannot count the number of times I have turned on the radio in the middle of a musical number with a soprano singing the stunned me and then to not be surprised when, at the end, the soloist was Renee Fleming. There are many wonderful sopranos. There is only one Renee.

In her book, The Inner Voice, Ms. Fleming talked about why people often turn to classically trained singers in times of great emotion. She said it was for 2 reasons. First, "the tradition of music grounds and connects us through a universal appreciation that transcends taste". She has clearly demonstrated that here in a powerful rendition of a song with a timeless and so very needed message. Her second reason for why people turn to trained singers is "a trained voice has a kind of innate authority that transits strength. The sounds...emenate from the...whole heart and soul". This requires no explanation, as that strength and emotion reverberates through her performance to the entire audience. Well done, Ms. Fleming.

I just learned recently that this song was written and released in 1945 when millions of Americans were serving overseas in World War II. It added a new meaning to what this song must have meant to those at home who had loved ones serving in harm's way.

Rodgers and Hammerstein and Renee, a totally unbeatable combination. What a great tribute to the greatest men and women.

One of the BEST operatic sopranos in the world. I ADORE her voice, and the sublime interpretation.

Wonderful performance and to see the families on stage was simply beautiful.

She sure is excellent as an artist but very dumb as human being she had her chance so keep her mouth shut politically but she chose instead to speak about things about which she has no idea. Very sad.

Beautiful voice and lady.

10 years since she sang it at the Obama inauguration and she's still got it. The Obama inauguration was her greatest live performance though.

When people talk of the best song writers of the 20th century they talk of lenon and macartney they were great but listen to the lyrics and music of the composers of this musical and tell me who was better.

My future ex-wife right there! Love this woman....her art, her class, her poise and her divine voice. This performance wasn’t spot on but it was great all the same.

The first half is definitely a bit strained. The second half is nice, although I don't why she struggles with those G's (I think they are G's). Still, lovely performance!

@@janetflier6192 Man U is the biggest rival of Liverpool, who sing "you'll never walk alone" before every match, but also Fleming is my favourite soprano, her voice and delivery are so enchanting. So, you know, mixed feelings
